If I am typing text, which test symbols make which smilies?
I know that : plus ) makes the basic one. What about the other ones?

Also, (for those who do not remember smile codes ) When you type up a reply, right next to the white box where you type, there is a box labeled "Smilies" with the different smilie faces below it. If you click on any of those, it appends the "code" for that particular smiley at the bottom of your text. (you can either keep it there or re-copy it into the location you want it to be).

To use that, though, I think you need to turn on the following option:
User CP -> Edit Options -> third to last option:
