It is mostly the same, but d10 is still little less healing with HDs during short rest in comparison to barbarian.

It's also part of the existing system language. It could be +1 hp/fighter level and +1 HP healed per HD spent.

I would still leave that +1 HP healed on average to barbarian as an advantage.

Champion gets fast healing at high levels already.

Maybe add on 3rd level: You gain +1 HP for every level of fighter you have.
Give him max healing with second wind, at least it would look as an improvement for a class skill and it will also make him the fighter tank class at low levels not only at lvl 18.

Introduce Critical Hit Ranges.
Make Improved Critical add half proficiency (rounded down), and Superior Critical replace that with full proficiency.
Remove the half-HP limit to the healing.

Just to reframe this, I do believe Improved Critical at 3rd level is the problem. It's not even worth a feat. Criting on 19s is worth less than +1 to hit since all damage isn't multiplied. +2 Str is +1 to hit and damage, +1 to a save, and +1 to checks (plus a little extra. +1 to hit miiiiiiight be worth half a feat for its breaking bounded accuracy, but it would have to come with a little more.

But the Champion needs to be simple. +1 hp per level is simple. That's worth half a feat. It's also different from the Battle Master and Eldritch Knight. So, without another idea, I think I'll be going with that.

My buffs have included:

1) Remarkable athlete adds 1/2 proficiency to all Str, Con and Dex checks. On top of proficiency if you have it.

2) Late game, but Survivor also lets them add 1/2 proficiency to all non proficient saves.

3) This feat:

Weapon specialisation
Prerequisite Fighter level 6th
You are a master with one weapon, and your skill with it is legendary. Choose one type of weapon. You gain the following benefits:
* You gain +1 to hit and +2 to damage with weapons of this type.
* When you score a critical hit with this weapon your opponent must succeed in a Constitution save (DC 8 + your proficiency + your Strength or Dexterity modifier) or be staggered by the blow, suffering disadvantage to all attacks and ability checks made until the end of that creatures next turn. In addition, the staggered creature can’t take reactions.
* You have advantage on checks and saves to disarm you of your weapon.
