Make a Common Magic Item

Explorer
This is the outgrowth of the Make a Flawed Item thread to collect those items that don't have a drawback, but don't have much of a use. See Xanathar for many examples.

Ball of Fetching
Whenever this ball is thrown a spectral hound appears, chases after it and returns it to you on your initiative next turn. The hound then disappears.

Glasses of the Spotlight
The wearer of these glasses can always choose what angle he is lit from, regardless of the actual location of the lightsource. The light level remains the same.

Legend
In the last game I played, the DM gave out a few 'special' magic items, most of which were somewhat 'gotcha' items that would function according to their description to the letter, but in some way that made them disadvantageous.

But our favourite was one that provided no mechanical bonus whatsoever - the Cloak of Heroic Flapping. Its sole property was that, even indoors or on a calm day, it would always wave and billow impressively as though being dramatically blown in the breeze. My dragonborn bard took to it immediately, and wouldn't have traded it for the finest Cloak of Elvenkind.

Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal
Chalice of Fine Drinks - This golden and tastefully bejeweled chalice can not be accidentally knocked over and will not spill even under extreme conditions like the deck of a ship in a storm. When poisonous liquids (including alcohol) are put in it, the gems will glow equal to the strength of the poison.

Companion's Collar - This collar will resize to fit any tiny or small animal. If it is within 1 mile you will know the direction and rough distance to it, and by focusing can tell basic details of it's state (hungry, hurt, playful, etc.). It won't accidentally fall off, and if removed you are aware that it has been done so and the exact location it happened.

Wand of Chalk - the tip of this wand contains a chalk that never wears down no matter how much you use it. You may change the color as an action.

Salve of Dark Sight - This consumable is a black, slightly oily substance. When smeared on one's eyelids however it takes on the visage of disturbing, almost demonic looking eyes. While your eyes are closed these eyes are visible and you may see in darkness and dim light, though anything brighter will burn away the salve. It otherwise will last for two hours.

Boots of Ice and Snow - These knee-high, fur-topped boots are warm, and magically grip ice and snow as if it was normal ground, negating slipperiness. They are favor function over fashion.

Needle of Mending - Non-magical clothing and fabric can be repaired of cuts, breaks, wear and even things like stains and scorches - everything but the ravages of time. It takes half an hour for an average suit of clothing for a medium sized creature, more if particularly ornate.

Silverstone - This 2" disk of silver has an arrow on one side. If flipped into the air, it will point to the closest mass of silver over 2 lbs within ten miles. If there is no such mass it will come down on it's blank side and be unusable until the next dawn, otherwise it can be reused freely.

Mrs Bucknard's Everfull Purse
Always has exactly the right make up in it. Can be used to make camo paint a la Hunger Games (Adv to hiding).

Scabbard of Flamboyance
Resizes to fit any weapon capable of being sheathed. Whenever weapon is drawn from this scabbard, it makes a deeply satisfying and heroic sounding zzzzzing! noise. Massive penalties on stealth.

Spork Calling Orson
This spoon/fork hybrid makes whatever you eat taste like whatever your chosen bonded companion is eating or last ate, no matter how far away they are. Obviously if the last meal they ate was poisonous, you'll feel sick. Doesn't confer Heroes' Feast replay value, just the taste.

Tribblecoin
Ordinary copper piece but when placed in a sealed container (pouch, chest, closed room) with any other coins will instantly transform them into copper pieces of identical appearance. Good luck working out which is the original, too, as the process causes all the coins to flip themselves twice.

Legend
Dwarven Whirligigs: Little toys made of hammered copper in the shape of an 8" palm tree-like mechanism with four folding "fronds." They are used by young dwarven petitioners to communicate, in a way, with other dwarven children in Soot Hall or Dumathoin's realm. A tune whistled or hummed into a whirligig when the umbrella is opened will be repeated when the whirling gig ends its flight path. The stem is spun between the palms, sending the whirligig spinning, and it will float down until it reaches the ground or is caught.

Wondrous Beard Clippers: Fashioned from ores worked by a dwarven petitioner at their moment of transcendence, these clippers have a mind of their own. When the wielder begins to trim their beard, the clippers proceed to magically animate, clipping and trimming as if wielded by an invisible hand. This allows the hands-free “wielder” to perform any seated action such as reading a book, preparing spells, or meditating while the clippers finish the job.

Bedroll of restful sleep- This magical bedroll floats a few inches off the ground allowing a more comfortable sleep.

Blanket of Armor- This bearskin blanket allows you to sleep in your armor with no penalties.

Blanket of vision- The next day after sleeping under this blanket you gain a +1 bonus to any roll you make or a roll an ally makes within 30ft of you.

Blanket of warmth- This magical blanket folds down into a small handkerchief when not used, but provides warmth for the coldest nights.

Wand of Bee Frenzy

As a bonus action you can push a button on the base of the wand. The wand begins to vibrate rapidly when the button is pushed, creating the sound of a buzzing bee. Pushing the button again (as a boneus action) stops the vibrating.

Mr. Dao’s Dancing Darner: this is a tailor’s needle that has been given a variant of the Dancing enchantment. Once per day when the command word is spoken, it can be used to repair all of the minor tears, patch, reattach buttons, and the like for a single garment, as if done by Master Tailor, Mr. Dao. You must supply the thread and other necessary materials.

Mrs. Dao’s Kitchen Stick: this looks like an 18” wooden stick, but, like the needle above, has been enchanted to Dance on command. When it does so, one end will transform into a spoon, whisk, spatula, rolling pin or other non-edged kitchen utensil. It will then perform that duty for one dish perfectly, without supervision.
