D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

The Human variant feat selection also dropped off. I only say this because I'm really lazy and prefer drop-downs and autofills instead of typing.

(didn't mean to laugh at your previous post. Was trying to smiley this one and messed up. New to enworld and not really a forums user anywhere else)

@morepurplemorebetter - Character Sheet

morepurplemorebetter - This is my 1st post and I'm new to the website; hopefully I posted this right.

I came across your character sheet and let me say WOW!!!! This is awesome!!! I love all the auto-calculations and the design is beautiful!

All of us that play DnD 5th Ed are just starting to play after been away from it for some time now and we were recently discussing carrying capacity. Not sure how hard this would be, but would there be a way to include weapons that auto fill in from the attacks section into the Equipment/Adventuring Gear section to take into account the weight of weapons we are carrying; maybe in their own little section like the Attuned Magical Items subsection. I know we can manually add them in, but it would be nice not to have to track in 2 sections (the Combat Section and Equipment Section). A bonus would be if it could be done for Defense Equipment too.

We've been using the Equipment/Adventuring Gear section to track what our character is actually carrying during the adventure and the Extra Equipment Section as our "storage" equipment that we leave back at the Inn or house that we're staying at. I would definitely buy you a beer if it could happen. ;-) Anyways, thanks for the character sheet and happy gaming!!! :-)

Monk Unarmed Strike

Love this thing. I've been using it for a while now.

I'm still going through all the new changes since I last updated about a month ago, but didn't see Monk Unarmed Strike in weapon drop-down. I'm sure I can create custom but just thought I should mention it.

Thanks for all the hard work!

@Ohillion: This is the result from the same bug as what you mentioned earlier... The v6.5/v6.6 sheets only ever detected the non-variant human. It has been fixed in v6.7

@Liquidjim: Thank you for your kind words! What you are asking for, concerning automatically adding weapons and armor/shield, is something that would result in a very unpractical sheet imho. The solution I have in place now is that you can add all the weapons or armor/shield with 1 click.

If I would automatically have anything you put in the first page be added to equipment you'll get things like this:
- You add a battleaxe and you add the battleaxe a second time, but this time with your rage damage >> now you have 2 battleaxes in your inventory
- You change the longsword to longsword +1 >> now you have 2 longswords

It might be workable if I add another feature to the menu to "add new weapons" and "add new armor/shield". This would than only add the weapons (or armor/shield) that aren't yet present in the equipment section.

@timmy2383: Great to hear you like it! Until the new Beta versions, no class abilities were part of the sheet. Only since v6.5 have class features been added and until now only for the Barbarian. Transcribing everything in the PHB takes a lot of time. I have added the Monk weapon features in the new version, v6.7 (as well as the Fighting Styles for the other classes).

I just updated the downloads section to Character Sheet v6.7 (11-7-2015), with the following changelog:
- Fixed bug with reset not resetting the Notes/Rules on page 3
- Added the Fighter class features and Fighter subclasses except Eldritch Knight (with thanks to fitsou)
- Weapon proficiencies for already selected weapons now update when adding a class that has proficiencies in that type of weapon, or when clicking the appropriate checkbox
- Monk damage now automatically updates for the weapons (only works if your class is monk, obviously)
- Added a pop-up to notify about missing subclasses that also lists all accepted subclass names
- Improved the code for adding the class features (now fully functional with multiclassing)
- Added code for class features that offer choices that stack (like the Fighting Styles, Battle Master’s Maneuvers, and the Warlock’s Invocations) These things will be added to the Notes section on the third page (as there is no room for them on the second page)
- Added the first couple of levels for the Monk and Paladin class
- Changed the way feats/class features add movement bonuses. These are now also remembered when adding/changing race

Maybe I should start calling this a Character Generator instead of just a Character Sheet ;)

Awesome! Thanks for the hard work. I'll be donating/buying you a beer.

Character Generator indeed. Let's hope WotC doesn't issue a cease and desist and ruin everything.

I think you meant 'accepted' class name :p.

More stuff for the spell sheet:
Suggestion: Add an internal 'Ritual' column. This would allow you to do more with the coding logic if you want to implement certain class features.

Suggestion: For range, add "aura" for effects centered on the caster that moves with them. E.g. 30-ft aura for Aura of Purity. 10-ft aura for Antilife Shell. Technically redundant with 10-ft rad, but clearer in that it tells you it moves with you.

More spell description tweaks
-----------------------------------------
[A]
Animal Messenger | Should be "25 miles (50 miles if flyer) per 24 hour". This is important when you add +48h/SL duration.

Animals shapes | Should be "Any willing crea in sight".

Animate Dead | Bones > Skeleton, Corpses > Zombie. Not Corpses > Skeleton or Zombie.

Antipathy/Sympathy | There's a "save" at the end that kinda doesn't add anything. Either expand, or remove it because it's redundant with the WIS save mentioned in the save column.

Arcane Eye | Should mention that moving the eye is 1 a.

Arcane Gate | Probably needs a "see book", since there are a few more conditions on where exactly you can create portals.

Aura of Life | Should mention that max hp can't be reduced.

Aura of Purity | Should mention which conditions, or "certain conditions" + "see book"

Awaken | Mention "Huge or smaller" or "Up to Huge", with Int<4. Should also say "charmed" for 30 days. It does not blindly obey commands. Adding a "see book" would also be good, to see what happens when it stops being charmed.

I'll do letters B+ later.

Also, I feel the "animal companion / familiar" section should be its own Animal Companion/Familiar PDF thing.

The vast majority of characters won't have a companion/familiar, and it's annoying to have to remember not to print those two pages every time you print the sheets.

Alternatively, you could have a check box to enable the last two pages (hidden by default).

Fantastic! And yes, I agree...Character Generator is almost what you've provided here, but stick to calling it a sheet. I don't think you're getting into deep rough patches of violation of copyright...there's plenty of freedom in copyright law where you're allowed to quote portions of a text. And, because you're not publishing the whole text to allow it to stand alone as it's own product without need for the original books, you've got good ground to stand on. You are, in fact, promoting the game and the purchase of its materials with these support materials. If anything, you've inspired me (and hopefully many others) to go and buy the product because they want access to all the material. WotC should thank you!

@timmy2383: Thank you so much! Any donation will go to more beer/coffee-infused (ok mostly beer) late night coding sessions ;) And to a new PHB, as mine has already started falling apart (it is almost a year old... my 2nd edition stuff is in better shape :S)

I'm trying to steer away from a C&D by not quoting everything directly or making it so you don't need the PHB as a source, but in the end it will always be a question of what WotC finds acceptable and not.

@Headbomb: Again so many additions! If you want, you can just make your corrections in the Excel, and send me the Excel :) The database tab is password free, so you could even highlight the altered cells in some way or another.

The only problem is that the descriptions still have to fit on the page without being cut of. You can test this in the database tab, if I'm correct, as the description field is the same size (385 pixels) and uses the same font (Footlight MT Light, size 7) as the Spell Sheet. Just change the print area and make sure you set it to print everything at 100%. Then you have should have the same dimensions in the print preview as the pdf version would turn out.

And yes, "accepted" was what is supposed to be there :P

The ritual column wouldn't add any functionality add this time. What kind of thing were you thinking off?

Aura instead of rad is a good idea, I'll look into that :)

Hiding pages in a pdf is something I cannot do. I need very expensive software for that. Unless you have some way of doing this, I don't see it happening. I have tried some things with adding a 'print' button to the ribbon. That way you could define a preferred print-range that would be called upon when pressing this custom print button, effectively making sure you always print the sheets you want without needing to remember it yourself. Unfortunately this wouldn't replace the default print things. So using the Acrobat menu or pressing Ctrl+P would not call upon this preset range.

Alternatively (or in addition), I could have the normal print dialog (Ctrl+P) give a default range, only page 1-2 for example. This is only changeable in Acrobat Pro, so maybe it is not the best solution.

Would any of these printing options be of interest?

I don't feel much for making things into separate pdf's, sorry :P

@Ohillion: I'm guessing that if anybody is getting a C&D for my work, it would be the enworld mods. And I think it is unlikely they would hesitate taking one download offline to keep legal issues at bay. Lets just hope WotC feels the same way about my addition to the hobby as all of you do! I do try to have these tools be just that: tools for the game, not replacements for the official resources.

Another update, this time to Character Sheet v6.8 (13-7-2015), with the following changelog:
- Added a ‘Print’ button that lets you choose which pages you want to print in an easy fashion. This selection is remembered for the next time you push the button, so the next time you can just click print and click enter
- Added bookmarks for all the buttons so you can access them that way as well
- Improved the pop-up dialog for changing xp/level
- Improved the pop-up dialog for selecting a subclass by making it possible to select a subclass and have it apply immediately. This dialog now appears for every class, but not every subclass has defined features yet, so most subclasses will still be seen as ‘not detected’
- Added a pop-up dialog for the reset button as to ask for confirmation (and not having you accidentally reset your character)
- Added the Eldritch Knight subclass (with the help of Fitsou)
