Dirge is basically done, all I need to do now is the nitty gritty; i.e. proving my math and transmuting the story that makes sense in my head into words.

For those of you who are dying to know why the hell someone would try to build a warlock / ranger, I basically decided to build a character to maximize the use of a pact hammer. Go me!

Hope everyone has had a nice New Year's Eve!

Hopefully I should be able to kickstart both my adventures tomorrow. My apologies for the delay fellas, Christmas craziness I am afraid.
As Phoenix said, no need to worry - holidays are for resting, not stressing. We'll be patient for the mystery-solving to continue. :)

Do the floating isles even have an ocean floor? I seem to recall the suggestion at some point that it was connected to the elemental plane of water at some undetermined depth, rather than an actual planet.
I would highly recommend we have an ocean floor. This setting begs for chests to be salvaged from sunken ships et al.

So, after Jan 16th I can propose adding Manual of the Planes items to L4E and then Kama'zer will have the possibility of someday acquiring a Githyanki Silver Sword! :D  Happy Days!! ;) Too bad it's a level 9 weapon. So no chance of getting one for several more levels of play. :.-(

As for an overarching Underdark, I like the idea of it being under the ocean floor.

Yeah, putting it UNDER the ocean is a great way to distinguish it from all the other Underdarks out there! I love that idea.

What if the isles are tethered to the ocean floor, so getting from the upper layers of the dungeon to the underdark itself involves sliding down miles of flexible, leathery tube?

This immediately made me think of getting swallowed, which made me think of monsters growing upwards out of the underdark, that could swallow things such as, say, ships, and excrete them into the underdark.

I don't know whether that idea is really cool or really disturbing and I should go back to bed.

Quick question here to check if I'm right or not. After looking at the Wiki again (not reading every little thing, but scanning in general), is it correct that there is no Feywild or Shadowfell in the L4W cosmology? I could see Kythra filling in for the Feywild somewhat, and maybe the Valley of Bone filling in for the Shadowfell. After reading the Manual of the Planes recently and learning more about these planes, my thoughts started percolating with ideas and I had to check to see how these planes were set up in L4W only to find no trace of them. Any confirmation on this? Or does anyone know where info on them is located if there is some?

The only article that includes info (albeit quite vague) about cosmology that I remember on top of my head is my short piece about creation myth in the religion entry... though I don't think that's what you're looking for, since it's very very "fluffy"
