ooc: Sorry for the delay, folks. I've written myself into a bit of a corner, plot-wise, and I've got some brainstorming to do on how to get out of it. :)
I think Atreus being mauled to death (slowly) by some horrible undead creatures on his way to town, while our part of the party stumbles over an unguarded Vast Hoard of Treasure, would be a nice twist. What do you guys think?

Heh - that would definitely fit in with how we've been running. :) If Atriden really wanted to make Atreus switch to the dark side, this would work, although I think he wants to continue in garden-variety rogue form (right?)

OOC: Hehe, don't give DM too many "good" ideas! Yup playing rogue till the end of this adventure and then I'l make the change.

After reluctantly setting aside the rum barrels, Woe leads the party deeper into the tunnel. It meanders through a few more natural twists and bends before reaching an end. At the end of the tunnel, a outer corner shows through the dirt, an intersection of two stone walls. At the bottom of the corner, the stone has been chipped or smashed away to form a large hole, barely large enough to squeeze through for an eight-foot high flesh golem, perhaps, but more than sufficient for humans or elves.

Past the hole in the stone wall is tomb. Deep layers of dust and mold cover every surface, though goblin-sized footprints are scattered all over. There are dozens of bodies laid in stone niches along the walls. Several side rooms, branch off the large central room like petals on a flower, providing wall space for many more bodies. Seven large stone sarcophagi are arranged in ranks in the central room, and all of them show signs of recent tampering.

As you gaze around, getting your bearings, from the deep shadows at the other end of the central room a deep, warm voice speaks. "Greetings. I have been waiting for you. I am glad the goblin did not inconvenience you unduly. He is... or perhaps was... an annoyance. I have much to discuss with you." A figure steps forward into the light, a pale, young human man of average height, with short brown hair and dark eyes. He wears muddy bib overalls dotted with scorch marks, scuffed leather boots, and a sturdy vest.

[sblock=Atreus]Your journey into Daunton is uneventful, until you reach the store where you plan to purchase your goods. The shopkeeper, an elderly man with thin arms, seems slightly pale when you come in. Despite a pronounced tremor in his hands, he personally helps you find all the items on your list, and insists on giving you a significant discount. When pressed for an explanation, he smiles ingratiatingly and stammers something about loyal customers and promoting future business.

ooc: your shopping list is half price. This is treasure.

As you exit the store, a small child in the street looks at you in terror, then drops a sheet of paper and bolts down an alley, screaming. The paper drifts lazily to your feet, where it turns out to be a copy of the Screamer. Your face is plastered across the front page, along with pictures of Palindrome, Woe, and Tander, underneath the words "Wanted, for the murder of Arnest Glasston".

On the reverse of the paper are several other stories, including one that catches your eye, about an explosion on the cliffs north of Daunton.

ooc: Your actions should be accompanied by an appropriate skill check, please.

Watching the child flee in terror raises the rogues awareness of this ill situation. He quickly grabs the paper and moves discreetly towards any dark alley in sight while making sure no one follows. There he changes his appearance as best he can; He puts his belts into his backpack and hides his magic dagger in his left boot. He mixes the different cloths he's got so that he might not be recognized by his outfit while covering most of his head with his hood. Then he leaves to get back to the others by the fastest route but tries as best he to be discreet and avoids any possible confrontation.
Skills: Can you roll Stealth and Bluff rolls for me Covaithe, and please use your good dice :D

[sblock=At Whiteside Barrows]Woe’s shield-hand spasms once or twice in pain. A brief look of concern washes over his face before disappearing under the usual smug facade.

Somewhere inside, old wounds are torn up again with Woe having to readdress his part in the deaths and near-deaths of those around him. With the frequently occuring desensitization, however, it doesn't last long.

“Well I’ll be a nymph’s sugardaddy!” he calls out.

“There must’ve been some spacy craziness in that rum, because I’m starting to see and hear familiar sociopaths!”

The warrior sniffs his own breath at the thought, before continuing.

“You look a whole lotta’ livelier than last I saw you, Pal. So what’s the word? Mugged any kids, lately? Kicked any pets? Oh yeah, whatever happened to your last familiar? Fill me in.”

Though Woe does not leave Palindrome out of his sights, he also keeps a close eye on the bodies and sarcophagi scattered throughout, especially keeping aware of any unsealed lids or signs of movement. Not to mention places to jump for cover - Woe convinced himself that it isn’t Palindrome the moment he heard the formal and polite rhetoric being used.

"Woe? Hacker?", Kathalia says quietly. "What is this strange young human talking about?"
“Keep on your guard, Kath.” Woe whispers back. “He may look it, but that ain’t no chum of mine.”

[sblock=Holy guacamole!]I had my suspicions, but what a tweeest!

I’m hoping we can stall for time to find out what’s going on, what we’re up against, and allow Atreus to speed back to us. Depending on how "Palindrome" responds to the familiar line, I'm hoping to address identity - with our luck, it’s probably the Unseen Lord having taken over his body.

Does he still have the frost burns and other injuries that killed him?[/sblock][/sblock]

[sblock=Atreus]You quickly duck into an alley, strip off your daggers and begin changing your clothes, but just as you finish squirming into a bright red tunic, a squad of tough-looking thugs in chainmail, festooned with weaponry, come to the corner and look down the alley. They immediately look right at you before you can pull up your hood. "There, that's one of them!" their leader cries, a bugbear with a patch of gray fur at his throat. "After him, lads!"

[sblock=ooc]Stealth 14, Bluff 15. Uh oh.

Skill challenge: escape town. 4 success before 2 failures. Bluff, Stealth, Streetwise, Athletics, Acrobatics, all DC 15. If you like, you can do the whole lot in one post, and describe the events yourself.[/sblock]
