Walking Dad

:hmm: if Int is only 2 points behind Con, all this feats would only give +1 AC.

Maybe more useful for a starlock. Build up Con and Cha and nearly ignore Int.

I still prefer taking just the chainmail feat...

[sblock=No Hybrids]Hybrids are still playtest/preview material until PHIII comes out (which is also why no ardents, monks, etc., etc.)[/sblock]

Technically, the new rule voted back in October did not mention playtest etc. material and did not state the other rules verbatim. There was a mention of the definition of new material and that was it. I think it is silly to prevent people from using new material when it's been release for over 6 months. It's really no different than the Assassin. So, I will go make a proposal later today. Why keep some things out and others in just because someone thought it was a good idea on the other forums? I thought the intent was to encourage people, not discourage them.[/sblock]

[SBLOCK=OOC]As Hybrid rules is a playtest, where Assassin was an official rules release for people with D&DI. The difference is the Assassin might have a few errata included into PHB3 while the hybrid rules might change a lot.

My opinion is we should keep it like that before another minotaur case happen.[/SBLOCK]

Can we move this discussion to the general discussion thread? I'd prefer to keep it a little more clean in here :) [/sblock]

As per request, I moved the discussion from the Tavern thread to general. However, folks might also want to see KD's follow-up proposal here.

The beauty of this is the fact that you don't need Int at all Walking Dad. Heck, throw in human w/ melee training and Con is your stat for most anything. :)

However thinking of this mostly for a +Str/Con race. The 13 Str is only 1 point spent then, you normally get a + defense from race and you spend whatever points you have left getting more defenses.

I'm also partial to melee type warlocks so the thought of just having chain doesn't cut it. :p

And in all honesty I don't see the feat cost as too high. Beserker's Fury stands on it's own without this combo (+skill, +2 dam for encounter) so it's one extra feat (vs chain) to get +3 AC. Seems fair.

Yeah, I love melee warlock's also, especially Con-locks. Nice to be able to actually use those THP's ;). They are a very nice off-tank to have. Combine Eldritch Strike and Staggering Mace to slide 2 on a hit is also nice

Yeah, I have a fey-lock in Second Day of Mourning who has combined Eldritch Strike and a staggering weapon to nice effect!

Never considered that...although you need to put Str at 13 and start with 17 Con and a +2 con race. Not undoable by any stretch, but also needs all of your feats at lvl 4. Same way you could have built a fairly high AC avenger before the nerf bat was swung. Pretty easy to have gotten a 19-20 AC at level 1 before (3 Hide (or 2 leather) + 4 ability + 3 armor of faith)

Avengers are getting their AC back in PHBIII. There is a feat in there that gives wearers of cloth armor +2 to their AC.
