Mikara open's one eye and gives hacker a weak thumbs-up, smiling even as blood rolls from between her teeth.

"Alright, kid," says Hacker, returning the thumbs-up. He covers Mikara with a blanket from his pack and sets up his knapsack as a pillow for her (after retrieving a bonesaw from it). "Soon as you feel better, get your ***** in gear and help out."

Then, he draws his dagger and slaps Kathalia on the bottom. "Heh! Heh! Okay, Buttercup, let's get busy. I reckon we separate this ****** into eight pieces: tail, body, head, four legs, and two wings. We tap a major artery and fill our waterskins with dragonblood. Then, we pack the brains, heart, liver, spleen, and other important bits. One of us will get a fire going and start roasting some of the backstrap and maybe a bit of cheek. That'll a make a fine meal. And for the love of *****, take it easy when you chop off its genatalia. We can sell that as an aphro-*****-disiac for a *****-load of gold--or maybe make a new spear shaft for Woe."

Hacker throws himself into the grisly work, composing a song as he does so...

And then Woe makes dragon-kebabs.

Tristan pulls up short, not wanting to get stuck by a stray spear thrust. He sighs. "Well, that wasn't very much fun. First dragon I fight and my sword doesn't even get to touch it."

“Don’t feel bad, fella.” Woe cleans some pulsing bloody piece off his shield and offers it to Tristan. “Here, you can poke this obscure gooey organ I tore loose somewhere inside. If it’s’ twitchy, it ain’t completely dead!”

"Okay, folks, new plan. We chop this ***** dead hunk of money into portable bits. Then, assumin' our tracker here survives the next few minutes, she'll use her skills to find the home of the monster, and we'll loot its hoard. Finally, after a nice rest, we go back and wring the dung out of Dungwringer."

“That’s officially a "Hell Yeah!" from me!”

"Damn it Woe! That was my line."

“Don’t you worry, doll. If you take care not to die just yet, I’ll think of a way to make it up to you. Somehow.” Woe winks back, just as Mikara lapses out of consciousness.

For starters, Woe puts words into practice by helping out with saving Mikara. However, it turns out that his particular administration of first aid to the ranger revolves a little too much on dubiously placed CPR to be very effective.

Atreus moves to Mikara and gently pushes others to the side. kneeling before the ranger, he grabs a small box from his backpack containing small needles. Placing a couple of them in strategical points on her body and wakes her up by slamming his fist into her chest, making the needles jitter in a weird way. Seconds later he removes the needles and rises. " You should be fine now, but you should rest "

The assassin moves over to Woe and claps him on the shoulder " Nice finishing touch on the dragon "

" I agree. This Dungbringer is surely in for a surprise but what puzzles me is why the dragon did not flee. I have heard in tales that they are to be intelligent creatures. I must admit that this encounter proves otherwise "

Round 8

Woe and Atreus between them combine to bring down the dragon, though Atreus takes another nasty cut in the process. The others rush to aid Mikara, and after a few tense moments, her breathing steadies. She continues to lie still for the moment, resting.

End combat.

Hacker eagerly begins the task of butchering the dragon for parts. Nearly all the bits of such beasts are valuable, in varying degree and to varied individuals. The hide and blood of this specimen would likely be of particular interest to anyone who worked with acid on a regular basis, such as a serious alchemist.

[sblock=ooc]Atreus regens 5. He misses, triggering a tail lash, but does 14 damage anyway. 22 vs. AC hits for 6 damage and 5 ongoing (se).

Woe takes 5 ongoing, and drops the dragon with his first hit, so he only heals 4 instead of 12.

Tristan tries to give Mikara a save, but fails.

Kathalia puts her necklace on Mikara.

Hacker muffs a heal check.

Mikara takes 10 OG, dropping to -9. She saves against everything. She is still dying, but is no longer taking damage.

Next round....

Woe fails a "heal check".

Atreus succeeds, stabilizing Mikara. I'm calling this "stabilize" rather than allowing her to spend her second wind, because she's down to 2 surges and I'm guessing she'd rather take advantage of song of rest when spending them. Thus, she is in no danger, but remains unconscious until she spends surges.

Atreus still has ongoing damage, but his regeneration cancels it out. And before you ask, no, you can't ride the regen to full HP without spending surges. It disappears as soon as Atreus saves against the ongoing damage.

Combat is over. You can take a short rest and spend surges now, if you're so inclined.

Milestone: everyone gets an action point back. Woe didn't actually get to spend his, so he has 2 now.

"You know, I'm a pretty good tracker too. And it wouldn't surprise me if Kathalia was too. Not that I'm saying we should have let Mikara ..." Tristan's eyes move to the unconscious elf as his voice trails off, lingering there for a few moments. His face doesn't give much indication as to what he's thinking, whatever it is.

"Er ..." Tristan eyes the squirming flesh, but doesn't take it. "That's not quite what I was thinking. Sorry."

With the fight over and everyone out of immediate danger Tristan helps Hacker with the dragon, pulling out a dagger to skin the hide from the beast. "Figure that Father Serevas might like some of these dragon bits? Alchemists work with acid often, could be a good to warm him up a bit."

Kathalia makes a few feeble attempts to dismantle the dragon into its constituent parts, but quickly grows frustrated with her lack of strength.

"Okey dokey, doggie-time!"

Transformed into a wolf, Kathalia makes quick work of the dragon with her powerful jaws, pulling each freshly removed dragon-bit into its designated location. Satisfied, she transforms back into an elf, whereupon she lets out a most un-ladylike belch.

"Oh dear," she giggles, "I think I ate some. By accident, of course!"

All,

I know that this was nowhere near the last battle, but if we're out of immediate danger, and the dragon parts won't rot, Mikara could use an extended rest. She's out her daily and she's got no surges left. Knowing her propensity to become a target (as well as hit one), she's not likely to survive the next encounter.[/sblock]
