"When you cast this spell, you designate a target composed of one of the five wu jen elements--earth, fire, metal, water, and wood. The target then releases magical energy in a sudden, explosive burst, as follows:

Wood, Metal, or Earth: The target throws off sharp slivers and fragments; creatures within the burst take 1d8 points of damage (Reflex save for half damage).

Fire: The target shoots out glowing sparks that deal 1d8 points of fire damage to creatures within the burst (Reflex save for half damage).

Water: Water pushes out in a fierce wave, knocking creatures within the area prone unless they make successful Reflex saves. Creatures get a +4 bonus on their saving throws for each size category they are larger than Medium, or a -4 penalty for each size category smaller than Medium. Exceptionally stable creatures, such as dwarves or creatures with four legs, get an additional +4 bonus.

The spell does not noticeably affect the structure or form of the target object."

Oh, I can't think of anything core that would work like that. I think we should probably leave it off. Or else let them take healing from mending or something.

It looks just fine. :)

Sorry for taking so long to update the working draft, my computer started acting up the last time I tried so I wandered off and wasted my time with something else.

I'd just simplify it to Terran and Common. Any objections?

It's unobjectionable to me. :)

For skills, I suppose Spot and Listen make the most sense for their usual roles.

I was going to give them the same Listen and Spot skills as their Earth Elemental cousins.

Borrow this?

Vulnerability to Earth (Ex): An eolian takes half again (+50%) as much damage from spells and effects of the Earth descriptor.

...

That's not a core spell, so we can probably just drop it (or add as an underbar). Or perhaps we can find similar core effects...

How about they take 50% extra damage from Earth spells that do damage (such as spike stones), but Earth spells that don't do damage actually heal them of, say, 1d3 hit points per spell level?

Should we allow them to be summoned as earth elementals of a similar size, but with an added material component of a statue of the appropriate size for each stone spirit summoned?

That's what I'd do!

Sure. That works.

Its a bit odd to have both vulnerability and benefit from the same elemental source, but it could work.

Sounds like a plan! Something like this?

Susceptibility to Earth Magic: Stone spirits are strongly affected by spells with the Earth descriptor. Earth spells which cause damage do an additional 50% damage to a stone spirit. If an Earth spell which does not cause damage is cast on a stone spirit it is healed of 1d3 hit points per spell level.

I had thought of that but discarded it as kind of counter-logical. No thoughts on mending and similar spells?

How about changing the "Susceptibility" to "Sensitivity"? That way, it doesn't necessarily imply a detriment.

I'm not opposed to that, but think Cleon's ability is perfectly acceptable.

Stick with the earth elemental feats as well?

Small: Power Attack
Medium: Cleave, Power Attack
Large: Cleave, Great Cleave, Power Attack

Or maybe replace the Cleaves with Stand Still and Reckless Offense?
