[Tavern] Tower's Shard 2011

Rikka raised one eyebrow at the wilden's speech. "Not been to the Wastes, then, have you? 'Good girl' or no, it has no place in this world. Out of respect to our host, I'll do no violence here- but as Gatekeeper, I would as soon deal with. And I doubt that the guardsfolk of this city would weep tears over a lost demon." With a soft growl, her form shifted again, back to the dark-coated leopard shape, and she moved back under her favorite table, again devoting most of her attention to the front door. But even a fraction of her attention allowed her to follow the other conversations around the tavern- or with her hearing, around the neighborhood...

"Though for what it's worth, the Treaty of Thronehold formally recognized Zilargo's independence as well that of the Reaches', and all of the Five Nations save lost Cyre were signatories to that treaty. Perhaps one day the old Empire of Galifar will be reunited, but I doubt it myself. When new empires rise, they rarely have the same borders as the old." She continued.

Yes...that Treaty. It was a dark day when Queen Aurala turned over Thaliost to the Thranes" Riaan says bitterly.

The wilden holds up a hand as if to shade his eyes from sparks or a bright light, along with an exaggerated long whistle, casting an unblinking black shark's eye toward the others present at the table. "Dat bein uh hoe law toe tenshun tween yuh two folk den. I an I believin day ave moor privat type rooms jus tup dem step sif yuh ave need tuh be alone den dis night." A unmistakingly sly smile spreads across his alien features at his own impish implication toward the stern elf and hot tempered young man.

"Hmmm, I hope you are not alluding to what I think you're alluding to. I would imagine procreation difficult with a shifter. Fur and all" He replies

[sblock=ooc]
Yeah battle of the 8 Charisma? I figured the 8 would be his bluntness, rubbing people the wrong way, but Riaan's a good person and pretty emotional so he's also quick to move past something. [/sblock]

"You may need to look better at her." comes different voice. "And, Rikka, I come from the world different then this, this wilden comes from different world and I'll bet every 5th being that enters this tavern has some connection out of Eberron, think on it. Gatekeeper or no, you're in the city now, with plenty of differences. I'd kill an aberration as soon as I saw it, but I learned that not all that look aberrant really are, and that not all those that look normal really aren't."

He turns toward Riaan
"You're like those Cyrans that cannot accept their old life is gone and the time has come to move on. The world changes and if you are left behind, you'll be destroyed. That's just the way it is. For example, your teachers thought your kind of blade magic is rare. That may be true, but look at this place. You have a bard that can channel, a gnome that can channle and even I can channel minor part of my power through this blade." Bellegon pulls out silvery dagger that is quickly enveloped in shadows flowing out of his shadow encased hand.
"It's not the same, I cannot channel except for this little bit, but there are plenty of ways that can be done. It's just that the world explores, world goes forward, different races and arcanists try different things and some of them work! Stay isolated and you'll stay behind with all the consequences of such life."
OOC: Bellegon is Umbragen, drow that lives underground and has strong connection to the shadow (therefore shadow elf) - which is why he has skin covered in shadow that seems oily and black pupiless eyes (as opposed to drow who have colored pupiless eyes) - they are fighting aberrations on their turf, deep underground on the borders of Khyber and as such they could be called Gatekeepers also :D

"What an interesting group of people we have here...
from my last experiences, I have to say that a loath the undead even more than aberration and outsiders...
but I will not try to force anyone here to share my opinion.
That may actually a good plan for all of us, if we want to enjoy the tavern and not end this conversations with blood-shed."
Varis says diplomatically.

Lucien hadn't been paying close attention to the conversation, his mind, plagued by nightmares even while he is awake, was otherwise occupied. When Bellegon talked about killing aberrations, the halfling immediately snapped to attention. He looked at Bellegon with a combination of inquisitiveness and admiration.

"Many pardons sir, did you say, you've killed aberrations? I would very much like to hear more of your tale. My name is Lucien Lightstep. I was a prisoner of... No, prisoner is too dignified. I was a slave to the illithids for several years, time which I will never get back. I had only recently escaped their tentacled grasp, so I have fled as far away from that place as I could. But one day, I plan to seek vengeance upon their kind, so I seek as much knowledge as I can find."

Yes...that Treaty. It was a dark day when Queen Aurala turned over Thaliost to the Thranes" Riaan says bitterly.

"It was merely recognizing the facts on the ground. The Thranes took the city long before she was born, after all." She said. Tana was, after all, something of a historian. She was more interested, in the main, in events that long predated the Last War, but that did not prevent her from knowing the course of it fairly well.

[/sblock][sblock=OOC]You have found the primary interest of the wilden's search

You'll have to forgive my attempt at a Jamaican accent, just try to sound it out phonetically or use the translation below.[sblock=Translation]Those are the foul things I'm hunting down until not one draws breath. I actually just got back from an errand to the Mournlands, where my group was attacked by these twisted little men with two faces and four arms each. They were running around with this oozing livng darkness that burned to the touch and tried to eat us, and a thing that attacked with slimy tentacled hands.[/sblock][/sblock]

"Then I am right person to ask. I'm looking for a band of heroes that will lead an army down into depths of Xen'drik to stop aberration army from resurfacing." Bellegon raises his voice somewhat so everyone can hear.
"They are stirring in Khyber and they found the way toward the surface. Now our fortress is the only thing that stands between here and there. And my clan, though mighty, will fall eventually under their infinite numbers.

As for 'some day' revenge, there is no time like the present. If you wait for them to come to your doorstep, you might as well find an illithid and submit."

OOC: any DM brave enough to try this one?! :D

OOC: Xendrik would chew the PC's available right now and spit them out. That would certainly give me my Evil DM street cred over here in LEB

Maybe once you hit Paragon... or this could be the quest that puts you into Paragon levels. Either way, not yet young Padawan.
