EN World member CleverNickName has created an amusing flowchart describing the oft-contentious discussion of Hit Points here on the forums; this is a follow-up to his previous flowchart describing the "Edition Wars": "In the spirit of my Edition War Flowchart, I have created a useful tool for another hotly-debated topic here on ENWorld. Ladies and gentlemen, I present The Nature of Hit Points Flowchart! May it serve you well in this ongoing discussion."

Funny 'cause it's true. This argument's been around since at least 1E and it's never going to be resolved. People still think they're coming up with new arguments though. Sorry guys, I've seen every possible argument on this topic over the last 30 years and I really doubt you're going to come up with something new and shocking to change my mind.

I think the argument is about HP damage being physical wounds or open ended and how a creature can naturally heal that damage, not about it being abstract or physical. All rules are abstract.

Nice. I'd XP you if I could.

Po-tay-toe, po-tah-toe. The flow chart works either way.
