Kama'zer notes the portal ahead and yells to encourage the others. "Make for the portal ahead, people. Move it!" She slows just a bit to let the others catch up hopefully, intending to be the last one through the portal. She worried that the portal might remain open after they all passed through it still and planned to stand and defend the exit against the onslaught if it came to that.

Kama'zer Perception check: 1d20+4=24
Kama'zer Athletics check: 1d20+11-2(speed 5)=15

OOC: I have a day off AND my computer is kind of working today! :D

Ignatz, well ahead of the others, has a much closer view of the portal. He skids to a stop near it, and then turns around to face his allies and pursuers. "HY VIN!" he roars, both fists in the air. He frowns. "Vait, vhere is Evan?"

OOC: Has anyone heard from rb780nm ? I'll wait until tomorrow, and if I don't see any response, I'll NPC his turn so that we can move this along.

OOC: Only able to make short posts today, so I wont' be able to get to NPC'ing SoundofStone's turn today (so if anyone want to do so, feel free!). If not, I'll try to get to it over the weekend. Pretty swamped with programming homework.

OOC: I just realized... even were Sound of Stone to fail his athletics check here, no-one would have a buffer of less than 1, as such, this is an auto-success! (wish I had thought of that earlier...)

The motley crew of adventurers run through the portal that had opened up before them. As the second and third of them pass through its opening, its perimeter begins to waver. Sound of Stone and Ignatz are the last to pass through, and they hear squeal and a pop as they find themselves on the other side of the portal. Turning around at the sound, the group sees the severed head of a pixie bouncing on the ground. Apparently it had caught up just as you were going through, and when the portal's connection to...wherever it is that you were was severed, it had just stuck its head and neck through the portal. You can imagine the shocked horror of the swarm of creatures standing in the middle of that Arcadian forest, looking down at the decapitated body of one of their allies, and all the angrier that you all escaped from their clutches!

Looking around them, the adventurers find themselves in a lush grassy plain. Its gently rolling hills give a soothing normality to the scene, after having been in the almost alien environment of Arcadia. Off to the side, near a tree-line, Evan leans against his horse, the adrenaline of the chase causing his chest to heave in heavy, panic-stricken breaths. Walking over to the group of adventurers, he waves in greeting.

"Glad to see you all made it through. Lucky for us that hole opened up, eh? So, anyway, I recognize this area from a few hunting expeditions I've been on hunting boar. We're not far from my village. Maybe a full day's walk. Everyone okay to keep going? Is anyone hurt?"

Ignatz sits down and pulls off a boot. He turns it upside down, pouring about a cup of thick blood onto the grass. "Hy could use a breather, hy tink, haha!"

OOC: Recommending a short rest. Ignatz will spend a surge, but if Ilse has a spare Ardent Surge he could use the extra d6 healing to top off.

Joy staggered to a stop as they passed through the portal- that sort of sustained sprint in heavy armor was not the sort of exercise she was used to. The faint music in the air around her slowed as well, the jangling chords which had evolved during the chase swelling into exultant strains, as of some kind of epic victory. "I'll be fine- just give me a few moments to catch my breath," she managed to croak out, her voice not quite as confident as her words. She did turn to Ignatz for a moment, and her voice took on some of the epic sound of the music. "What you did, in there, that was amazing. I've never seen anyone move like that."

OOC: If Ignatz needs it, Joy can spend an Ardent surge, allowing him surge+2d6 healing for a surge. Anybody else need healing?
