Classic NPC allies like Aleena from the Red Box?

Quickleaf

Legend
A question for the long-time D&Ders: Are there other classic iconic D&D NPCs/henchmen like Aleena from the Red Box? Name and race/class if you know it.

I ask because I may have some "drop-in" players new to RPGs and I wanted to whip up some pre-gen characters which harkened back to the good old days. :)

Thanks in advance!

There's no Aleena like characters off the top of my head. Though there are several from the 1e DMG. "Gutboy Barrelhouse", dwarf fighter, immediately springs to mind.

What I thought of first, though, were all of the original action figures that came out and had coloring books and puffy stickers, colorforms and all the other marketing/merchandising stuff.

So with that there's:
Strongheart: human paladin (also made an appearance in the D&D cartoon)
Elkhorn: dwarf fighter
Peralay (or "Melf" if you prefer): elf fighter/mu
Mercion: human (female)/cleric
Ringlerun: human/MU (also appeared on the 1e PHB revised cover)
Northlord: human/nordic-style "barbarian" fighter
Deeth: human (female)....I wanna say she was a "Cavalier", but appeared in the XL1: Quest of the Heartstone as a fighter (since BECM didn't have cavaliers).
uhhhh...there were a few others...I'm sure I'm forgetting some...
Mercious: human (male)/cleric
Hawkler: human (no reason couldn't make him half-elf if ya wanted)/ranger

never saw action figures for them, but in other merchandising were:
Figgin: halfling/thief
Filaree: half-elf (female)/druid
Caruso: half-elf (male)/bard
Charmay: human (female)/MU
Aurelia: human or half-elf (female)/ranger
there was a gnome illusionist whose name escapes me at the moment...Ah! Praise Google images: "Garn Greygaze"...and he was an illusionist/thief
Merrygold: halfling (female)/fighter-thief

Those are just all of the "good guys". There's a whole 'nuther list of bad/evil characters.

Would you consider Morgan Ironwolf (the example used in B/X chargen) suitable here? See also Black Dougal (thief, dies opening a poisoned chest), Silverleaf (elf), Sister Rebecca (cleric), and Fredrik (dwarf).

Who?

Honestly, I remember Morgan Ironwolf, Gutboy Barrelhouse and all those guys. But no Aleena.

Which red box, the old Basic one with the Erol Otus cover, or the later one? Or the 4e one?

In true Gygaxian D&D, there are no ally NPC's. They're all werewolves, jackalweres or doppelgangers waiting for you to drop your guard so they can join your party and quietly kill you one by one.

Kidding aside ....

Ireena Kolyana (Ravenloft; female human fighter)
Nodwick (Gnome? henchman)
Marco Volo (FR; human rogue?)
Drizzt (FR; dark elf ranger)

Pregens from A1 ... Slavepits of the Undercity

Elwita (female Dwarf fighter)
"Ogre" (male Human fighter)
Freda (female Human ranger)
Karraway (male Human cleric)
Blodgett (male Halfling rogue)
Dread Delgath (male Human Wizard)
Phanstern (male Human illusionist)
Eljayess (male Half-elf cleric/fighter)
Kayen Telva (male Elf fighter/Wizard)
