I was just in barnes and noble, and on 1 single shelf was the 2nd edition players guide, 3rd edition players guide, Essentials rules compendium, 4th edition players guide and 5th edition and 4th edition starters sets. Ironicall, 5e players handbook was no where to be found.

That certainly is not going to bring in any new players, I could see a 12 year old kid scratching his head, or worse buying the 4th edition starters set.

Come on wizards, clean your house up. Buy back the overstock of old editions, and dont put your reprint of second and third on the same shelf

they have a lot of control. Retail channel shelf space is not random. All kinds of things come into play with publishers, contracts, ect...

They actually have very little control over what happens in specialty gaming shops or mom n pops. But retail juggernauts like B&N is a different story.

I doubt WotC has any sort of control over what you see on the shelves of your local barnes and noble.

I don't know how these things operate in the US, but from my experience a publisher can have a great deal of control. If you have active and enterprising sales people.

That would conflict with the push to keep most editions available.

Our local FLGS is frequently missing 5e books. They've been selling.

if they do have control over what's on shelves, then it makes sense that you're seeing a lot of products. It's probably a decision that's made by some higher-up at hasbro at the start of every quarter.
