Back to Our Story -- The River Styx

The river itself feels wet, but it is not composed of water, at least here it is not. And when you look into it, you see glimpses of body parts and facial features that appear for a moment and then stretch and distort impossibly as they morph into other faces or parts. I's like a "Soup of Souls" that flows around you. It runs off of you completely when you withdraw your hand from it, and it does not cling to gear or clothing. Once you remove yourself from it, you are thoroughly dry.

The outcrop of rock you are on is large perhaps extending a half a mile out from the waterfall and an eighth of a mile wide. In the distance you see a small fellow being chased by some sort of denizens of the lower plans. You only catch a glimpse before they pass behind a low rocky hill. They are about 50 yards away.

Zane looks out and sees the chased scene, "I wonder what is going on there? Lets see if he needs our help?"

Raul offers, "I'll scout ahead, prepare for combat. I probably can't kill 'em, so I'll beat on them until the rest of you catch up."

Raul moves forward at top foot speed to engage the first local, to give the small man time to maneuver.

OOC: Speed is 50, run all out, covering 4x. From my understanding of the description, the small man and the locals are on the outcrop. If this is untrue, please advise.

It's like we're in HELL, or something

Raul could not take this ... "hellish" ... environment into account. He is expending the energy to move at 4x speed, but he is only moving at 3x speed. Everyone else is havig the same difficulty -- movement rates decreased by 25% in this particular "hellish" spot.
