Converting Oriental Adventures creatures

Yes, something like that. Following the precedent of the barbazu's Infernal Wound, I guess we'd either put this in the weapon description or as a separate SA.

I prefer it as a Special Attack, it's clearer to keep them separate:

Shadow Wound (Su): Any creature the Shadow Walker injures with its scythe-chain must succeed at a DC X Fortitude save or take 1d4 Con damage. The shadow wound is a supernatural ability of the Shadow Walker, not of the weapon. The save DC is Charisma-based. [?]

That looks good. Cha-based seems right.

Updating Shadow Walker Working Draft.

I'm wondering whether we should give the scythe-chain its own name, and we also need to give it a brief description that mentions it is utterly black and never reflects light.

How about:

Shadowless Blade: The shadow walker wields a +2 scythe-chain made from wood and metal so utterly black it never reflects light. A scythe-chain is an exotic weapon similar to a kusari-gama, it has the following weapon description:

Which part next?

Hmm...

Well the current Martial Training SQ grants "an insight bonus to AC equal to its Wisdom bonus", so maybe we should give it a Wisdom higher than 8 so it actually has a Wisdom bonus?

The Shadowless Blade is great!

What about Wis 14? That just comes to me...

Works for me!

Updating Shadow Walker Working Draft.

I guess we should decide what to do about the "large shuriken" the original was armed with.

In the 1E Oriental Adventures, a large star shuriken does 1d6 damage vs Small-Medium targets and 1d4 vs Large, while "regular" small star shuriken do 1d4 to both size targets.

By comparison, 3E shuriken only do 1d2 damage.

Well, if we're going to call it a shuriken, we should stick with the 3e damage value. Maybe there's another weapon like a large shuriken we can use? :/

I fancy going whole hog and making it a special attack.

i.e.:

Shadow Stars: The Shadow Walker can produce giant shuriken made of darkness as a free action - it reaches into the dark recesses of its clothing (or another lightless place) and pulls the weapon out from nothingness. A shadow star acts as a Gargantuan sized +1 keen ghost touch shuriken, but the Shadow Walker can use it as if it were properly sized for the Shadow Walker. The Walker can create as many shadow stars as it can hold; the shadow shuriken vanish one round after leaving the hold of the Shadow Walker.

Making it Gargantuan ought to help with the damage! :p OK, that's fun enough I have to go along with it.

They have to be Gargantuan if we want to match the 1d6 damage that 1E Oriental Adventures gives large shuriken.

So, shall I add that to the Working Draft?
