Celtavian;6836486. You have very easy to exploit weaknesses in the Con area which is absolutely a vital stat given the concentration mechanic and the saves like petrification and poisoned conditions that seem highly prevalent in the game.[/QUOTE said:
We got bless to bolster saves I guess. Can bardic inspiration be used to do saves? I'm sure it will all work out to be fine.

Never had power word kill happen before, so didnt plan for it. Wasn't worrying to much about his defences was going pew pew. We should be able to evaporate casters during suprise provided we do our sscouting correctly.

If its an issue I can go back and run a full op. At some point today I didn't want to go to far

It should be ok. The reality is D&D in general isn't designed for characters that optimize as much as my group, which is probably why we have such an easy time with standard modules and by the book adventures. We're testing for a wide variety of variables. A few non-min/maxed characters with min-maxed characters will be a better show I imagine.

Ye your right on that. My groups tend to optimize only one aspect. As opposed to a great spectrum.

Bardic Inspiration can bolster saves. I tend to use it more for Cutting Words. There are only four per Short Rest. Given the parameters of the encounter with the time limit, we will likely get one, maybe squeak out two, short rests. We'll play it by ear.

If Flamestrike runs White Plume in the spirit of it, there should be a few puzzles that shouldn't require serious resource expenditure if we are able to figure them out. We will see. I'm assuming he plans to use some antimagic at some point given that is a commonly used tactic in tests of this kind. That will heavily hamstring us.

Speak for your self you spell casting limp wristed spell slinger!

Both the paladin and rogue are in easy power word: kill range which is unusual for an min-maxed character. Poison and cold damage are nasty with weak cons and concentration saves will be difficult to make at times. So a fairly optimized bard with a suboptimal paladin, wizard, and rogue. It will be interesting to see how optimized Flamestrike's encounters are. If they are built for a highly optimized group, this might be a slaughter. We shall see.

Theyre medium-hard encounters - Im leaning away from a TPK the more I see the characters.

No cleric yet I see though... Between the Paladin and the Bard hopefully you have it covered.

No raise dead either... that spell should be a staple at this level.

Medium hard pffft cake walk. Ill happily take that blackrazer for my collection... I mean the kings collection...

This party really needs another frontliner to help out the Paladin.

We have two ranged PCs and a Diviner who wont want to be anywhere near the front lines!

Either that or a melee focused cleric.

Metagaming wildly, I'd guess that this scenario was written in the expectation that the PC would be built PWK-proof, so the villain won't have bothered to prepare it and will instead have prepared some other nasty surprise.

Cool. Im seeeing wall of stone in there as a magical secret but not as a spell known. Did you swap it out for something?

I think elven chain is thematically appropriate. Lets throw in Boots of speed and a Gem of seeing and 2 potions of greater healing (similar to the other PCs). All should be useful with kiting and scouting.

For what its worth, I feel that this character will excell in this adventure with a few of the options youve presented above.

Every time I look at elven chain in this game, I sigh. 15 AC at level 13. I'm not used to it coming from 3rd edition. They really screwed over heavy armor users as far as AC goes. That's why I build for hit points, since it is the only real defense in 5E. Elven chain is at least better than studded leather, though it's basically like being unarmored against 13th level enemies.

I haven't had a gem of seeing in the group yet. I'll have to look that one up. Oh, very nice item. She does like that.
