D&D 5E [OCC] The Treasure Map: Resurrection

As we start the IC thread (coming soon!), rather than try to remember how the alley combat ended and where everyone was, resource-wise, I am going to do a bit of a handwave/reset to make things easier.

What we're going to do is the following:
1. All characters are currently at full health.
1a. This was accomplished by taking a Short Rest after the alley fight. We'll say that the party ducked into a building to do this.
1b. You have each spent 2 Hit Dice to heal. If you are certain that your character was not injured, please let me know (and don't spend the Hit Dice, obviously)
1c. Strange has used 2 1st level & 2 2nd level spell slots to heal people and to cover other spellcasting that happened during the combat.
2. I believe Kini cast Web during the combat. I think the rest of her spells were cantrips.
3. I don't think anyone else cast any meaningful spells. If you recollect otherwise, let me know.

I am creating the RG thread today. Please post your character. In terms of XP and loot from the alley fight, I will post that in the RG thread.

RG THREAD

I think Shiver was carrying the magical whip. During the Short Rest, Shiver (or anyone else) could have interacted with the whip to identify it. Does anyone want to do that?

I am 99% sure that I had 24/36 hp, and 100% sure that I had 0/3 slots left, used to cast Hunter's mark and 2 goodberry spells. (although I still have my cantrip). I am perfectly fine taking a short rest, given that we were a bit banged up.

However, if we are taking a short rest, I may not have used some of my spells to cast goodberry (the short rest would make hunter's mark expire). The two spells provided 20 HP of healing (10 to me, 10 to Shiver). We also both drank a potion (provided by... someone? wasn't me), both of us were fairly injured. So how should we do this?

I'm pretty sure that Shiver cast *something* but I can't recall what exactly. However, the short rest would "power him up"

As far as the whip, Darwinimar's arcane expertise isn't very good, and he would find the weapons distasteful anyway so no he wouldn't touch it, and would in fact advise dumping it into the sea - perhaps that would please Shiver's patron?

Lastly, we discussed the UA ranger, I remember you saying that you felt that having the natural explorer power work in non-natural environment was too much (and I agree) but was there something else? I remember pointing out the changes to humanoid (from 2 specific humanoid to all humanoids) for favored enemy, but I can't recall your ruling on that or if you had another restriction. (we also talked about the other 2 ranger paths, but since I'm sticking with Hunter those don't matter for Darwin).

I'd like to stick with the above. It's the easiest way to handle things. Keep your slots that you would have used on Goodberry and keep your healing potions.

I'm not 100% certain how I want to handle it, but the ability is too good, that's for sure. The way I'd like to limit it is to have it only work in "natural" surroundings. So, not in the middle of a city, not in tomb, not at sea in a ship, and so forth. Forest? Sure. Climbing a mountain? Absolutely. Exploring a natural cave? Sure.

I didn't have an issue with the rest of the new Ranger.

Understood - once the game start I'll edit my "mini sheet" in consequence (re HP, spent hit dice, slots etc).

I think that Kini was the provider of potions now that I think about it?
