D&D 5E Darksun times of change[Oc]closed]

My brother in law regularly gave his two lager. I survived being fed beer by my dad.

My wife has a really strict rule about no alcohol before you grow hair under your arms though. My daughter quite innocently just wanted a drink and has a thing at the moment about drinking from our glasses. It caused some laughs, and I found it funny how we'd just been talking about easy parenting.

They know these things. My wife has strict rules about most things...

For wild talents, if you're planning on using the Mystic class as the foundation, at least, for the DS psionicist, why not use the Mystic cantrips as the wild talent options? There are 12, so it could be a d12 roll if you wanted.

I think warlock with Dragon King as patron sounds awesome.

texastoast that may not be a bad idea... once I look them up, that is. Depends how specific they are I'm trying to avoid toe stepping.
GreenKarl ranger will most likely be the revised ranger. I may possibly strip the spells for superiority dice. I may not though as I would be doing it simply because RANGERS DONT CAST SPELLS.

I downloaded the 4e Dark Sun book, though only about 20 pages in, so don't know much about it yet.

Looking over the doc, -5 PP for dwarves is...harsh. They're my favorite race, so I noticed that right off LOL

Can't really comment on much else. Not sure why normal PHB races wouldn't work.

I dropped the flaws in my most recent version. The standard races "would" work in most cases just some are poor examples as Athasian elves aren't fey or long lived so they require alteration. Sub races I feel don't fit on Athas as everything is basically a mutated halfling(don't think that's covered in 4e books) that and survival is a struggle so of shoots of a race living in such close proximity strike me as odd.

Well, if they're mutations, just rename Fey Ancestry something else, but leave the talent?

Subraces don't necessarily have to be offshoots. They could just be personal variations that could be explained by alternate fluff. So, this dwarf is a bit "wiser" and this one is a bit "stronger". Might have to explain armor training, but that could be a set of dwarven tribes or something.

Take some advice from Savage Worlds/Rifts. Don't try for mechanical conversion, but thematic translation within the existing system. Otherwise you'll just end up rewriting the whole book. I know 5e. I don't want to have to memorize a bastardized version of 5e, second guessing myself every time I have to post.

You could be right there. I'm in the middle of the 2nd draft now focusing on character options to begin with once I'm done ill post up and get some feedback see where we stand.
Typically the changes I am making are pretty minor, maybe I should just roll subrace options into the base race as an either or sort of deal.

Kind of like 4e did. Dwarves get +2 Con and their choice of either +Str or +Wis. You could even mix and match subraces, so Dwarf could take +Wis from Mountain and Med armor prof from Hill.
