Fair enough. We could also do best spells of a spell level, or best of a spells of a magic school(alteration, evocation, etc.)

You know, a thought occurs to me - instead of the thread originator choosing the options for a huge category like this would be, this new wiki-thread idea could be put to use for nominations.

Step one: a wiki-thread opens for, say, best spell ever. Each person (on the honour system) is allowed to make one nomination, added to the list. Then, after a set amount of time (a week?) nominations close and the vote-down poll proceeds as usual with the nominations on the list being the starting options.

Side effect: this will also give an idea on how popular a poll is likely to be - if there's only three nominations in a week, might as well scrap it.
