So is that it? (re: the setting announcements)

I thought Nathan Stewart said there would be two settings that would please hardcore fans? Or are the two Eberron and Waterdeep/Undermountain?

I'm excited about Ravnica and the fact that WotC is finally bringing in a new setting to the D&D canon for the first time in over a decade. But I was kind of hoping we were going to get some kind of multiverse/Planescape/Spelljammer announcement. I guess that will have to wait.

Pretty indifferent about Eberron, both because I'm lukewarm on the setting itself and just greatly prefer actual books and won't spend $20 on a PDF file. But it makes sense that they present Eberron that way and makes me wonder why they don't do that with all classic settings. It is low risk, low cost (just one guy writing it, looks like mostly recycled art from the preview), gives hardcore fans something, and maybe sets the stage for an actual book later on if it proves popular.

So am I missing something? And secondly, might Wayfinder's be a template for coverage of classic settings going forward?

Yes, I think what we've now gotten is what we've now gotten.

We might get a hardcover version of Wayfinder's Guide in the future, but only after the playtesting for the races, the dragonmarks, and the artificer class have gone through their paces and they're ready for a permanent publication.

Next year we'll probably get Dark Sun and either another new setting or PlaneJammer.

For today, probably. Stewart said one big thing latter this year (Ravnica) and two smaller things this Summer (Everyone and ?). Few more months of Summer to go.

There is no earthly reason why the Wayfarer's Guide can't also be available as a Print on Demand softcover. There are plenty of people on the discussion section for the product asking for exactly this. WotC missing out on some sales I think.
If it remains PDF only then it's a pass from me.

It could be because it's considered Unearthed Arcana and will, therefore, be updated for free as the playtest wears on. Once complete, I can see WotC offering a POD softcover or even a full-blown HC.

Fair enough I suppose. I enjoyed Eberron back in the day but I'm not burning with desire to run it right now; I'll wait for the final version.

I have zero interest in Ravica, and not a fan of paying for the Eberron playtest material.

At least for the Pathfinder 2E playtest, the PDF is free, and you get a book if you pay for something.

Yeah, I know that is a set of rules and this is setting material, but still.

You can get the UA Races of Eberron right now on the website for free.

You might need to wait a bit to see if they decide to release Dragonmarks as a UA, but I would imagine those will probably appear soon too for free. And a new and updated UA Artificer will also probably be arriving shortly as well I'd imagine.
