Keith Baker has written 5E Eberron! Now who would you choose to write the other Classic D&D Worldbooks?

What I'd personally love to see is Ed Greenwood's personal version of the Realms, without all the stuff added on and changed by others. Sort of "Realms Classic." I suppose this would be grey box updated to 5E.

Yeah, that'd be great. Might as well do it while he's around. "Ed Greenwood's Classic Realms" would be just be an alternate timeline. It wouldn't negate the mainline continuity. Through planar travel, you could even travel between the two distinct Torils.

I'd be happy to have this template repeated for the Realms - they could release something similar to the Eberron PDF, detailing lands and things that weren't covered in SCAG. Preferably written by Ed and others who have done a lot of work in the setting.
Ed’s already started doing that. He’s got a Border Kingdoms PDF up on the Guild.

The case of Eberron here opens up interesting possibilities simply because I think the ~176p official PDF sort of falls right in the middle of the predictions of releasing small UA-style PDFs (similar to the Planeshift documents) for settings versus releasing full 256p hardcovers. As such, I can more easily see WotC “opening up” former settings to the DMs Guild alongside releasing similar scaled electronic releases, especially if they can package new broader rules with them (Mearls has commented that we should expect to see the new Artificer next month, likely set up to be used in both Eberron and Ravnica; I’ve likewise long suggested that we’d see the final mass combat rules whenever Dragonlance 5e appears).

I’m starting to suspect that we might see the suspected rulebook on planar/multiversal adventurering next year, but I now wonder if we’ll see “PlaneJammer” elements included clearly within it, or whether we might see a similar campaign PDF (with DM’s Guild support) coming out alongside a more more broadly-defined sourcebook.

5E Dragon Fist: Chris Pramas.

Green Ronin, run by Pramas, owns the rights to Dragon Fist now. I don't think they have released an updated version of the rpg yet, but Pramas has stated multiple times he wants to. They do keep pretty busy over there at Green Ronin though.

Troy Denning and Tim Brown iirc for Dark Sun..
...and have them remove all the garbage introduced to Dark Sun by Bill Slavicsek as a writer and later both as the lead on Dark Sun and under his tenure as the Director of design and development.

Well people seem to want original authors back going by this thread. In a few cases if the authors are no longer aluve/available people have nominated someone with a good connection to the setting.

MAXRAT: The sun’s nice today.
HOGPOP: Yes. Nice.
MAXRAT: It’s nice.
— Pause for 5 minutes. We hear Hogpop rummaging around in the pockets of the bleeding goblins. An occasional chink as a coin found.
MAXRAT: Hot.
HOGPOP: Yes. Hot.
— Pause
MAXRAT: Do you like it?
— Pause
HOGPOP: What?
MAXRAT: The heat.
HOGPOP: It’s ok. I don’t mind it.
— Pause
MAXRAT: I like it. It’s nice. Do you think it’s nice?
— Hogpop rolls initiative.
