Personally, mostly neutral.

I'll browse through it once it arrives to the local shop. If it looks interesting/usefull I'll pick it up. If it doesn't I won't.

What I really want is a D&D based MTG set.... I've wanted that since the day WoTC bought out TSR. I doubt I'll ever get that though.

So theoretically this could happen. What would require it though would be

A: The Guildmasters Guide doing well
B: Being able to convince the MTG team to give up the Summer Draft Set

Or Alternate option

They make it an Un-Set but instead of jokes its D&D stuff.

I find it intriguing that WotC is now publishing a somewhat "niche" product instead of making a small number of books that appeal to everyone each year. Has D&D 5E grown so big that they now feel it is safe to diversify the product line?
2019 could be an interesting year for 5E.

I like the monsters in the Plane Shift pdfs, so I have a lot of hope on that score.

On the other hand, I am not sure that a new setting appeals, and even if we are getting one from Magic, I am not sure that this is the one I would chose. I am not that familiar, but reading a list of planes on the Magic site at wizards.com made me think that there are some planes that are more distinct from established D&D settings, and I would have preferred one of those.

I pre-ordered it (lure of monsters is greater than apprehensions over new setting).

It's a way of getting Magic players into D&D, and I'm not that audience, so I don't really care.

It does seem a bit misguided, though. Most Magic players that I know of either play D&D already, or don't have time for another hobby.

Do not care period. I don't use canned campaigns so who cares. I pay MTG just do not care about settings just card rules and deck building.

Nah. None of that's required. Just make the set & throw it into the mix. As long as you give them a unique mechanic, some good cards that fit favorite play styles, & a few overpowered things covered in foil, the MTG players won't give a :):):):) what it is.
If you really want to goose sales? Pick a card from some previous set everyone really wants & include it.
They'll lap it up faster than a D&D player who buys books their not interested in.

I've been wanting a MtG setting since MtG started.

Same here, I've been stealing ideas from MtG for years. I recall one of my favourite articles in an old magazine from years ago which dealt with converting MtG cards/ideas to AD&D 2e. I'm really looking forward to Ravnica being released and to all those who say a MtG setting isn't D&D. Fie, I say!
