Hi guys!

Do you know any tabletop rpgs focused on rock music? We are developing a rock-music tabletop rpg and we are looking for inspiration sources.

We already know about bards in fantasy rpgs and we've played tons of rockerboys in cyberpunk.

We're looking for something more specific and fresh bew.

Thank you for avery advice! ;)

Well, there was an old mini setting for D20 Modern called Hijinx. It was in an issue of Polyhedron/Dungeon. In it, you play members of a band (with each class being a type of instrument), and the game plays out like a Hanna-Barbara cartoon (Scooby Doo, Jabberjaw, Josie and the Pussycats) where you are on a roadtrip, you solve mysteries and perform shows.

The game is heavily modified by base D20 modern to bring in the tropes of those types of shows. It has everything you would expect from a Scooby Doo episode. No combat, instead you have chases down long hallways and pull pranks on the Villain of the Week.

Does that sound similar to what you were after?

Edit: I just looked it up. It was in Dungeon #99 in the Polyhedron side of the issue.

Thanks everyone. I played Umlaut with an unmotivated group, so my experience wasn't so good. I will check the d20 game out

What you want is Starchildren: Velvet Generation, a game set in a fascist-dominated future where the Ministries of Culture dictate what kinds of art and music are allowed, and the PCs are underground musicians sparking revolution with their music. As you might guess, it's heavily influenced by Bowie, Rush, and Pink Floyd, among others.

Actually, I checked it out, but it mixes rock and roll and aliens! I was looking for something that gives you the thrills of being a rockstar in the real world without weird things and powers.
