fist sized glass globes mounted on arm length sticks.

Taylar smiles as he enters the room and takes one of the globes on a stick, using Way to light it. "It seems someone had the same idea long before I did." He takes the larger glass globe and puts it on the ground. He creeps over and looks down the slanted path.

Adi has found that he is fascinated by the light up globes... and is therefore immediately intrigued by the globes on the sticks. He grabs one, studies it for a moment then lights the globe with as much way as he thinks it can handle. Then he takes one that is not lit and touches it to the first in an attempt to make the way jump from from one to the other without manipulating way. If that doesn’t work he will attempt to move the electromagnetic way from the lit globe to the unlit one. Without manipulating more way, only what is trapped in the globe.

Day 260: Keep 4: Foyer

Taylar smiles as he enters the room and takes one of the globes on a stick, using Way to light it. "It seems someone had the same idea long before I did." He takes the larger glass globe and puts it on the ground. He creeps over and looks down the slanted path.
GM: When Taylar illuminates the 'torch' globe he has acquired, before he can cover the two paces distance to the second opening, the globe he had placed on the floor begins to glow, seemingly, of its own volition.

Adi has found that he is fascinated by the light up globes... and is therefore immediately intrigued by the globes on the sticks. He grabs one, studies it for a moment then lights the globe with as much way as he thinks it can handle.
GM: Adisakti finds no distinct markings or oddities about the 'torch' globe. When he decides to illuminate it, the globe on the floor becomes brighter after a single second's delay. The other 'torches' remain as inert as they were before.

Vittero cracks his knuckles and retrieves a torch of his own. "Interesting."

GM: Try as he might, nothing Adisakti does makes the unlit torch illuminate.

Vittero comments, "I really thought that was going to work. Maybe every Yahdram could manipulate Way, I thought there would be some way to use these devices without that talent."

GM: When he manipulates Way of his own machination, Adisakti has no difficulty in moving the illumination from one torch to another.

Taylar moves to the entrance of the downward path to examine its situation. The smoothly hewn stones of the foyer end at the second doorway. The continuing path had still been cut into the mountain but no effort had been made to make any of it aesthetically pleasing.

Vittero illuminates his own torch and moves toward Taylar. As he does the globe on the floor becomes even brighter. Having a thought, Vittero extinguishes his light. A second later the globe on the floor goes out. A second after that it re-illuminates. "Okay, this is interesting. I guess these torches are for convenience since glass seems to take to light so well. That other globe has obviously been tuned to sense electromagnetic Way lines within a certain distance and mimic them. I really wish I knew how the Yahdram had done that."

Taylar looks into the dark passage and says, "This doesn't look like a mine. Could be a prison. Maybe that's what the function of this place was. It would explain the separate construction of the dwellings, why a servant was left here to watch over the place until he died, and why there are glyphs on the porches." He looks back at the larger globe on the floor, the one that lights when other globes are lit. Taylar will take the glowing glass ball and roll it down the decline, hoping that the glowing ball will alert them to any traps or hostile creatures down below. If nothing reacts to the lit glass ball then it might be safe.

GM: The smooth globe rolls easily down the mostly smooth stone decline, picking up speed as the slope steepens. As the path becomes rougher the globe takes a bounce and shatters when it lands, in a burst of light.

Before Taylar, Vittero, and anyone else watching has to close their eyes until the afterburn of the flash fades, it was noted that the actual appearance of the deepening bore is exactly the opposite of Taylar's initial suspicion. The other channels and opening that are seen are very indicative of a mine. Quite unexpectedly when looking down the dark path again, a globe in a far opening seems to have been illuminated at the arrival of the previous globe. The new light is far enough away and the path steep enough to prevent any good observations from the place where Taylar and Vittero are standing.

Adi watches the globe with extreme interest. The blinding flash intrigues him further. He runs back and grabs a few more of the fist sized globes, cutting them off their poles and tying them to his rucksack.

Tellerian Hawke

Defender of Oerth
Maka will take a "torch" and light it, and make his way slowly down the slope, toward where the other globe stopped and shattered. He hopes that bringing the torch closer will illuminate other globes nearby.

Taylar will go down the decline last and will hold his stick lantern high. He will look for markings on the walls telling them more about this place.

Waynan

Adventurer
All this time, Raven Elk has remained outside on the porch/landing. He and his friends have seen the markings on the stone porches and wondered about their meaning. Raven Elk realizes that none of them has traced them while using Way. Raven Elk now does this.

Sitting at one of the more impressive designs, Raven Elk begins tracing from the center outward with his index finger while manipulating Way to "sense" anything that may be offered: a meaning, a resonance from the spirit of the engraver, a message, a history...a warning...anything.

Day 260: Adisakti

Adi watches the globe with extreme interest. The blinding flash intrigues him further. He runs back and grabs a few more of the fist sized globes, cutting them off their poles and tying them to his rucksack.
GM: The globes appear to have been attached to their sticks by some long dried substance that has become even harder than the wood. Adisakti accidentally breaks one of the small globes trying to pry it loose. The arm length sticks with their fist sized globes seem to have been originally manufactured for easy carry, and Adisakti finds that he can attach several to his pack, rather than stuff them inside, as it would take too long to carve the sticks in two.

OOC: Three light sticks have been added to Adisakti's character record.
