That tracks.

The convo about Fizban’s between you and @Parmandur has me pretty hyped to dig into the book more than I have so far.
There is some cool stuff in there: fun lore to riff of that is placed in a very relaxed toolbox presentation, lots of solid game prep material (lots of tools to help make each dragon type more distinctive, and each individual dragon NPC more unique), and cool monsters. I've liked Volo's and Mordenkainen's, but Fizban's is the best monster book by a fair margin in my estimation.

That's true. But the theory developed out of early modern astronomers studying the newly-republished and available works of Ptolemy and building upon it, in much the same way Ptolemy built upon Aristotle's work.
There are really two varieties that emerge in the early modern period. "Caloric" used by chemists to try and explain heat, and "luminiferous aether" used by Physicists as a medium in which light waves could propagate.

Both where completely wrong, Aristotle has a lot to answer for.

I mean, Aristotle came up with neither of those, to be fair. Good for nutrition advice and discussions on how to be a good friend, though.

Yes, I was going on memory and then I actually read the wiki I posted!
That's why I said possibly bounded, possibly infinite :)

(In actuality I'm not up-to-date on where the astronomers and physicists are at with their working theories, so I hedged my bets...)
