Three new Star Wars movies

I hope John Boyega returns, and we get to see Finn develop into a Jedi as well.
John Boyega has made it clear that he has no inclinations to return to the Star Wars universe after the sequel trilogy. Which I don't blame him for, given how much Disney wasted Finn's potential and how terrible the fanbase can be to the actors involved in the movies/tv shows.

Yeah, I was about to edit my post to mention that. It’s a real shame. It would be cool to see Finn using the Force.

His comments were also made when there was not even a hint about a new Rey movie. Given the right script and they might change his mind.

The one about the original Jedi sounds like it could be something, but Disney has soured my lately to think they won't mess it up like the MCU.

My fear is that they do something like creating Jedi via science, by creating a "midichlorian booster", or some such nonsense. it was better when The Force was just Space Magic (tm).

Nah, they'll do it Buffy-style by infusing a demon into them.

I like Daisy Ridley. I like Rey. I am happy she is getting the chance to bring the character back in new circumstances.
I also think that they are in a similar situation with Rey as they were with Luke at the end of Return of the Jedi where we end on a note of "and now you are truly a Jedi". While we may recognize that the "hero learns to hero" part of a character's story can be much more interesting than the "hero is an accomplished hero" part, the first part still naturally leaves an audience wanting to experience that second part as well.

It's easy to forget after decades have gone by, and numerous now "legend" novels and such of varying but mostly unimpressive quality covering the post original trilogy era, and with all sorts of Star Wars media going in all sorts of other directions, that I spent my childhood wanting to see the awesome adventures of Luke Skywalker, certified Jedi Knight, turned into a movie. If you saw the sequel trilogy without knowing the history of the franchise, I think you would leave the last movie expecting further adventures for Rey.

Was Rise of Skywalker a huge mess that utterly failed the (fairly difficult but I doubt impossible) task of bringing together the two better but mismatched movies that preceded it into a coherent trilogy? Sure. But neither that failure, nor the fact that the original trilogy was not followed up on in a timely matter is a good reason to deny the kids who grew up with Rey the ongoing adventures that the kids who grew up with Luke were denied. She has risen. Now what?

I've often thought that part of the brilliance of Lawrence of Arabia was showing us that second story in the back half of the (very long) movie. Of course, it's hardly the happiest of endings.

I don't think that's exactly what they're doing, though, given the 15-year time-skip and "academy"-type setting. I suspect she'll be Gandalf to a bunch of new recruits, who will be the primary heroes. It'll be pretty funny if they make it in the next few years though - Daisy Ridley hasn't aged and won't in that time period, certainly nowhere near 15 years. I guess they'll give here a severe-looking haircut and rely on that to age her up lol?
