All the art and craft and history etc etc that we argue about here and elsewhere - is all just marketing

Weird take. The majority of art, and crafted items, and books, and etc are sold for a price. Does that make all of that art and content “just marketing?” Is The Godfather “just marketing”? Lord of the Rings novels? Great Expectations? Baldur’s Gate 3?

I'm just talking about Hasbro. Hasbro the corporation, owned by millions, guided by a board and an executive team - cares only about profit. Their niche happens to be games which we all care about. There are artists and skilled craftspeople who work for them, sure. But their work is only as valuable as the profits generated by it

To whom?

The shareholders, the board, and the executive team. And by extension the directors, managers, and individual contributors who work under them who it is assumed want to continue to be employed and therefore will roughly adhere to the needs of the first group

Ah - it's all just marketing to Hasbro. Yes, totally agreed.
