so basically a level up from Verschlimmbesserung
Yes but with the important caveat that with Verschlimmbesserung you honestly try to make something better but end up worse in some ways. Here we are talking about making something worse with intention to milk out more money of your customer.

If you're planning on running one of the current 1 - 11 adventures in preperation to running the Vecna adventure, you would be able to slot it in during play, or even if you're running a homebrew campaign. Other than that, you're right, it's not terribly convenient.
Right, which just means it’s likely to be forgotten by the players by the time the foreshadowing pays off.

Just feels like yet another poorly thought-out idea from WotC. I have to say, so far I’m not impressed by Amanda Hamon or Makenzie de Armas. They made a hash of Phandelver & Beyond. I hope they don’t make a hash of this too.

(That being said, I think Chris Perkins is overrated, and I’m not fan of designers like James Introcaso or James Haeck either.)

But they all speak so highly of you.

Seriously, guys, it’s just a little bonus PDF to promote pre-orders. It’s not that important! Don’t fret so.

People laughed when I said they would slowly move players to digital only. This is just a step.

Give it a bit longer and it’s digital books at half the cost. Free digital only books. Etc etc .

One day, no more physical products and/or D&D as a monthly service. Just $19.99 a month for all the D&D you want!
It’s a pre order product for both the digital and physical/digital bundle. It’s not really something that forces digital only.
