Would you allow this paladin in your game? (new fiction added 11/11/08)

Yes, of course. If only because he would be held to a higher standard. More seriously, yes. The discussion is about a class with supposedly well defined but not really behavioral core that has significant penalties when that set of core behaviors are deviated from. How much deviation and in...

    Iron Man vs. Thor

I thought that the fight between Cap and Thor ended exactly right.

    Dusk: The World of Carthasana

As spell slots are lost, how are you looking to exchange spells? Does a magician trade up from magic missile to minute meteors to fire arrow, or are they trading up from casting magic missile as a first level spell to second to third? I read it more as Valra (yellow / white) seeks to protect...

Martial Maneuvers inspired by The Princess Bride

I would say about 15 choices total. 3-4 for each style, 5 styles. Perhaps 5 choices for 3 styles, but having more styles that choices is better, I think.

Just for fun: Album/Song title named restaurants

Gastronomy (A Bar); They serve amazing oysters. The Red and the Black; A place with every kind of steak.

Five Suggestions to Limit Wizard Power

Interesting. Here is what I have done: 1. Reduce Spell Slots I use the same table, but bonus spells from attributes has become a fixed number based on the attribute bonus. You have a +3? You get 3 levels worth of bonus spells. This is a boon to the first level wizard who now gets 4 first...

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

No, I'm thinking of the next one. Sepulchrave's notes that he has shared with us look like the notes for a campaign set in Wyre's next age. The players have the benefit of playing this campaign that shapes the true campaign to come. There's a kernel of something profound there, maybe. When...

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

This is a marvelous campaign you're building, but I don't think your current players would have the heart to play. And, I was wondering where the cup would come into play.

    Alignments anyone?

I use alignments, but I use a variant of B/X D&D. In my games, alignment charts your metaphysical allegiance rather than a personality type. So, Lawfuls tend to be pleasant people who put the group's needs before their own. However, they could just as easily be selfish jerks with an axe to...

    Oots 847

This. I don't get how a magic orb is "blue". I must be missing some context as I'm not getting any testicle or breast allusions, here. Not that it matters, just confused me a bit.

I expect that it was little more than an acid substituted fireball. That seems to be the effect. Me too. I found the Linear Guild to be a fun diversion to Xykon and Redcloak, but I'm ready for them to be done. If Rich wants to develop the idea that Sabine actually loves Elan, fine, but I'm...

    WotC yanks the rug out

That's why Blizzard doesn't announce a release date until the project is done. There is always some frustration when there is an unforseen delay and you have to disappoint the customer base.

    Living Campaigns

I have fond memories of the original Living Planar campaign. Anybody remember how long it lasted? I only remember 3 adventures. A shame, did it incorporate any of the original material?

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

Good point. And, a rather remarkable achievement considering his peers. I was expecting a Green Man - style evolution for him. The Adversary needed that escape route, I guess. Re: Orm... The name sounds familliar, but I don't remember his place in the story.

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

I have difficulty considering Nwm, who dropped a bolide upon an elder abomination, "common-folk". Then again, he may very well be as only people of his stature have survived to this point. It's all relative, I suppose.
