Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Barbarian and Monk

These look fantastic! Please tell me these are for an upcoming Spelljammer sourcebook!

    Warlock Damage

Let me re-affirm that "untyped" not only IS a damage type, but a pretty darn good one - mostly for the reasons Abyssknight already specified.

2nd weapon in character builder problem?

DarkLord, I am thrown off by your "offhand" comment, and I am not sure you have explained everything enough to us. 1) Double weapons are all two-handed weapons that also count as an Off hand weapon when in your off-hand. You can't just wield an urgrosh in your off hand. 2) Unless you are a...

What number should a player have to roll to score a "hit"?

I don't know the exact source, but I have heard this before on here and from Interactive Design students at my work.

Player input please on a couple of custom world rules...

This should be in the 4e house rules forum, I believe. That aside, with my game I run, I award the PC's +1 to all defenses, attack and damage rolls and +1d6 to crits at 3rd and every 6 levels thereafter. The magic items they find confer no plusses, so if someone finds a nice flaming longsword...

    D&D 4E Two Camps of 4e Players (a rant)

It's just frustrating running a game for 6-8 new-to-the-game players who discover that they love the game and not seeing more done to pull in new players. This doesn't have to be a niche product. It could be a mass market product, it just needs a push.

    D&D 4E Two Camps of 4e Players (a rant)

It also seems like suicide for a game publisher to try to make nowadays. It is also always worth noting what I say to my grognard friend - There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the old systems. They are classics. Lots of people love them and some people still use them. You're not going to...

    Berbalang?

Yes, I ran one of these. The stats out of the book sucked in my opinion. Here's an old thread here about it : http://www.enworld.org/forum/d-d-4th-edition-rules/249313-berbalang.html

    D&D 4E Two Camps of 4e Players (a rant)

There are a few pages of errata to the core 4e rules in the very back of PHB2. It is presented as a rules update.

    D&D 4E Two Camps of 4e Players (a rant)

I concur... I think that playing Magic since '93 (competitively since '96) and playing D&D and seeing how the once simple game systems had grown more complex and stratified with periodic rules additions helped "Understand" the approach of 4th better. Anyone else a Magic player - ex or...

    Purchasing Items Above Your Level

I guess as a concrete reason ? OK - if you make one of the primary adventure motivators (XP & Loot) capable of being acquired outside of traditional adventuring through normal means - socially RP'ed money schemes, Liberal use of Fool's Gold, Etc... The potential for player greed unintentional or...

    Purchasing Items Above Your Level

They're allowed to purchase whatever they have the gold for and the DM deems available. That being said, you know your game better than others. In my games that I play in and the ones I run, the only way to acquire an item higher than your level is by risking your neck (in a dank sewer or some...

    D&D 4E Two Camps of 4e Players (a rant)

Thanks Infiniti - y'know maybe part of it is that one might read a rule, but until that rule is implemented and seen in practice, one might not always remember it (and by then it might be forgotten to be implemented). I wish the PHB had more play examples within it - I remember Rupert and...

    D&D 4E Two Camps of 4e Players (a rant)

I know this has been probably discussed before, but I can't help but feel the need to discuss this now. I don't consider myself a stringent rules lawyer, although I do enjoy cohesion in rules systems in all games. I can't help but feel that a vast portion of people playing 4e simply haven't read...

Figurine of Wonder / Daily item Q's.

One argument was that it needed 24 hours to "cool down". I haven't found a spot in the rules that supports that idea. The rules don't seem to look for durations of effects, only when the action to bring them into effect was used. To me, as long as the item's action to invoke its daily power...
