D&D (2024) Spells. What needs adjusted?

There are some very effective builds that make Magic Missile for a ton.

Crawford talking about Shield, which is not on the primal list, is kind of silly to me. Why is he even bringing up this interaction? You have to use a feat to take it, and it's one feat option of many.

D&D (2024) Does anyone else think that 1D&D will create a significant divide in the community?

OneD&D is exciting none of my current players in my West March. None of us are currently inclined to make a switch. That isn't because we have some hate for One D&D, and even the OGL thing isn't why. The OGL debacle didn't help, admittedly, but we were skeptical already. They are actively making...

    D&D (2024) New Wild Shape

That one is straight up not going to happen. When I see suggestions like a Druid with no spells or half-caster Druid, I don't get it. Shouldn't feedback at least be in the ballpark of possibility? They have a full "Primal" spell list. They aren't going to scrap that, and Druids are literally the...

Entirely true and a very real problem I'd like to see solved. Moon Druid definitely needs tuning, just not the way this playtest did it. Or even close. There's a lot of space between how it is now and utter ruination found in the playtest.

D&D (2024) Do you still feel that One D&D is "Compatible" with 5E?

Compatible? Eh.. maybe? I don't think it would feel very organic, though. Also I don't think anyone would pick the One D&D Druid over the 2014 version, as others have pointed out. I certainly can't think of a single reason I ever would.

    D&D (2024) New Wild Shape

I'm sure some did, especially with dinosaur forms, but probably not as many as you think. Brown bears aren't exactly an unreasonable thing to have seen (I've seen several in real life) for a Druid, and that's the most common form used.

    D&D (2024) New Wild Shape

Should there be no classes or subclasses that reward the player who wants to actually dive into their build and look through options? It isn't like 5e was rich with such options to begin with.

    D&D (2024) New Wild Shape

I was referring to the multiclassing requirement mandating 13 strength, not 13 strength OR dex. That's something Fighters get that, for some reason, Paladins don't. Real sad. Though yeah, you can ranged smite now.

    D&D (2024) New Wild Shape

    1. A good point! I don't think this outweighs the loss in overall value though. 2. A less good point. Sometimes summons are ignored, often they aren't, and sometimes they can't be. 3. Agreed, concentration is a steep cost that escalates the higher and higher you get in level. Part of why Moon...

D&D (2024) How should the Conjure X Spells & Planar Ally spells be handled in 1D&D?

That change to Druids has caused a very serious amount of backlash, because the change kinda sucks.

    D&D (2024) New Wild Shape

Honestly, I'm not sure. I think it depends on the numbers too much to give an answer. It also depends on if they massacre the Druid spell list as badly as Wild Shape (which, and maybe I'm just growing pessimistic, I think is highly likely). Part of the fun of a Moon Druid is having a large...

    D&D (2024) New Wild Shape

Agree to disagree. I'm not interested in comparing such wildly different features as smite and wild shape in value, to be honest. They're different classes and have very different priorities, so I see this as an apples and oranges situation. Though I'm also very disappointed with how Paladin...

    D&D (2024) New Wild Shape

A couple counterpoints. First, healing a Moon Druid is a terrible idea in base 5e (I think I actually stated that early in this thread, it's one of the strengths of other tanking styles), so it being more effective than that isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. If someone has terrible armor...

    D&D (2024) New Wild Shape

The problem with that is that it's just a wildly inefficient use of a spell. Let's say you use a level 2 slot at level 4. You give yourself 20 temporary hp. Not a bad deal, right? Wrong, sadly. That second level spell slot could also have been a summoned beast, which would have 30 hit points...
