Question RE: APG favored class bonus, Human+Oracle

IIRC, that is how it works with the Rules as Written. As a fourth level Oracle, that player would have access to 2nd level spells, meaning that 1st level spells would be the highest that racial ability would allow for. The favored class ability comes into play when you reach a level, not in the...

What can I use instead of kobolds, goblins & orcs?

Gnolls are a good choice for low level adventures. They are vicious, dangerous and players can safely enjoy putting them down. The only problems with using gnolls are the fact that they are almost as common as the other races mentioned, and that they are pretty dangerous in even small numbers. A...

    Pathfinder 1E First pathfinder character

Others have covered the principle differences between a sorcerer and wizard, so I will take a stab at the schools for you. Abjuration focuses on protective spells and wards. Most defensive magic is found here. Pro: strong defenses. Con: weak offensively. The Conjuration school is about...

    Pathfinder 1E First pathfinder character

I guess I feel a little silly after reading everyone else's responses, as I had written a short blurb about playing what you want but dropped it to reduce the wall of text I had already written. What sounds fun to you is the ultimate expression of "optimal." Play whatever character you like...

    Pathfinder 1E First pathfinder character

Personally, I am a huge fan of Wizards. Pathfinder made the Sorcerer a lot better than it was in 3.5, but you just can't beat the flexibility of a Wizard. The real question is, what kind of Wizard do you want to be? A blaster sounds cool, but isn't as useful as it would appear to be. Since you...

    My groups first dragon encounter/adventure.

Kobolds are my recommendation. They aren't really swamp creatures, but they do like caves and dark places, and they do have a strong connection to dragons. A few kobolds with class levels would make for a good challenge.

    OotS 843

I rather doubt the spell allowed a save, or at least, it was very restrictive in what saves it allowed. It might have only allowed a save if the target had a certain number of hit dice, much like cloudkill. Given that it was an epic spell, that hit dice limit would probably be quite high.

    Sorcerer min/max optimization build

That bloodline ability is cool, but you can only use it once a day, which makes it extremely situational, at best. I would suggest a Seer wildblooded Arcane Sorcerer (UM), in order to use Int rather than Cha for your spellcasting. Your Paladin will be able to handle the diplomatic stuff...

    Sorcerer min/max optimization build

As with any Sorcerer, the key is a combination of determining what your goal is, and then finding picking a flexible selection of spells to back that up. Do you want to be a blaster? Do you want to summon lots of creatures? Do you want to mess with your enemies heads? Or are you aiming for...

    The Army

I have done a couple of different "mass-combat" experiences for my players, in several different campaigns, the latest being Kingmaker. I'll offer some of my thoughts and ideas gleaned from experience, but first let me help you out with your "soldiers." The standard, non-elite array is 13, 12...

    Kingmaker: Extra Stag Lord Minions

I would be wary about sobering the Stag Lord up. He is extremely deadly even while sickened, and can 1 shot a weaker PC, especially one with d6s and no con modifier. The best way to counter the large number of PCs is to throw more enemies out them, and get them to spread out attacks, so they...

    Kingmaker: Extra Stag Lord Minions

I think the Sorcerer idea is good, and you should have him/her be 4th level in order to cast 2nd level spells. Any higher would imbalance the encounter/s too much. As for a healer, you can go either witch or oracle. Since you already have a sorcerer/sorceress, an oracle is a good bet. A waves...

    OotS #837 is up

That makes sense to me. Forgot that he worshiped Thor.

    OotS #837 is up

What domains does Durkon have again? I ask because Control Wind is a Druid spell that is also an Air Domain spell as well. For some reason, I have a little trouble believing that he is an Air Domain cleric, being a dwarf and all.

Daily readying of spells for spontaneous divine casters

I treat the Oracle in my Kingmaker campaign like a Sorcerer. 8 hours of sleep plus a small amount of time to relax/meditate/whatever.
