    Sunrod Questions

I would say they function underwater, but I'm not entirely sure you're able to activate it underwater. Striking anything with a significant amount of force is fairly difficult when one is fully submerged. Then again, the description doesn't state how hard you have to 'strike' it... I agree...

    Paladin Variants

You could fall and become a Blackguard. You'll lose your mount and get a Fiendish Servant, among other things, in return. It's probably not along the lines of what you were considering, but it works. Either way...just my 2 cp

    Giant Task

Where might I find this 'Superior Two-Weapon Fighting'? Is it a feature of the Two-Headed template by any chance? I don't own Savage Species...

    Robilar's Challenge or Karmic Strike

Karmic Strike. Robilar's Gambit requires a +12 BAB, you can get Karmic Strike at first level if you're a Fighter or if flaws are allowed. Either way...just my 2 cp

    Battling for control of undead

Control Undead specifies under 'Targets': Up to 2 HD/level of undead creatures, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart A second casting of this spell by another spellcaster would wrest the control of the undead from you, IMO. To the OP, there is no official ruling on this as far as I...

    A good Archer build?

Peerless Archer is from Silver Marches and Order of the Bow Initiate is in Complete Warrior. I fully agree about Arcane Archer not performing well in practice. Though the Imbue Arrow ability does have some potential for abuse. Either way...just my 2 cp

    Ring of Luck?

Wish can allow for rerolls and there's always the Ring of Three Wishes. Pro'lly not what you were thinking, but it works :) . Either way...just my 2 cp

    A good Archer build?

Human Saint Ranger 2/Fighter 4/Order of the Bow Initiate 2/Peerless Archer 10 Make full use of Power Shot even in melee thanks to OotBI. Get a wand of Hunter's Mercy to auto-threaten a critical on your next shot. Grab Bracers of Archery and a +5 Shocking Burst Oathbow and you're good to go...

Alternatives to XP Loss for Casting Certain Spells

Ability damage is an excellent balancing factor, but 1 point per 100 xp seems a bit steep. Consider that a 17th level wizard will be taking 50 points of Intelligence damage from casting Wish. That's more than enough to reduce most deities to a coma-like stupor. Consider referencing the...

    Swiftblade

No. Just no. Medium BAB, D6 hit die, a good Reflex save, a lame skill list, no exceptional class features to speak of and it loses FOUR caster levels!? You've got to be kidding me. This abomination is even worse than Acolyte of the Skin and almost as bad as Rage Mage. I do give whoever...

Which options do you use in your games?

I allow everything, but my players like to stick to basics for some reason. It's actually pretty cool because I can bust out crazy stuff they're not familiar with and they're forced to think on their toes.

    Dragon Shaman 5

I agree that Dragon Shaman is solid enough to stick through until 11th. Definitely don't go Cleric. Your spellcasting would be so far behind any equal CR encounter that it would be almost useless. Better to optimize what you have than branching out into new territories. One nitpick, Combat...

    A feat?! >.<

There's Cosmopolitan from the FRCS (IIRC). It only adds one skill as a class skill, but you get a +2 bonus on all uses of that skill. I think it was updated in Player's Guide to Faerun to only add +2 on a couple different skills though. Eberron has Educated which adds all knowledge skills as...

    Quick Reconnoiter

In my group it has seen fairly heavy use, due to the number of concealed opponents my DMs have enjoyed throwing at us over the years. When you first encounter a hidden opponent/object you are allowed a reactive Spot tjeck as a free action. If you fail and you don't have this feat, it takes a...

    killing the Lich

From the SRD: As you can see, it specifically states that the phylactery must be destroyed, not merely 'surpressed' as by an Antimagic Field. While it seems reasonable that the magic infused within the phylactery is what allows for this reformation, and that surpressing it's magical...
