Evil casters using [good] spells ?

Yeah, I should have figured, but I didn't want to dig up my BoVD.

    A rant on ASF

Who cares if its too hard early on and too easy late later levels? Things get easier for higher level characters. It seems like a basic DC 20 (or DC 20 + Spell level) with your armor check penalty as a modifier would work out well enough. That way, masterwork armor would be easier to cast in...

somatic explinataion This is a flavor explanation only. In terms of the rules, all three classes need 'one arm able to gesture freely' to cast spells with somatic components--so all three should suffer the same restrictions to spellcasting. And they do... for everything but armor. If the...

Polymorph Any Object and Reflex Saves?

I wouldn't allow it, for one. But even if my players convinced me to do it I'd allow a reflex save; the DC would be the same as for any other spell of that level. DC = 10 + spell's level + casters relivent ability modifier.

    Interpretation of rules

Alternate Rules An alternate rule used at tables I play at, is that on a natural 1, you threaten to hit another character adjecent to the intended target. I play it a little different. There is a threat range based on how many characters are in melee with the intended target. If you miss with...

Evil casters using [good] spells ?

Good spells, evil casters The only thing I've read on the subject, from the book of exhalted deeds, and a quote" Good spells don't have any redemptive influence on those who cast them, for better or worse. An evil wizard who dabbles in a few good spells, most likely to help him acheive...

    It had to be done

To the best of my knowledge, a whip cannot get past armor, not even with power attack, not even with a +5 bonus, not even with a 182 Strength. If it can't get past a small sheet of steel, then it can't get past a big slab of the same material.

    A rant on ASF

Well, if 1e rule you posted said "The character may mix functions freely and still gain experience, although restrictions regarding armor, shield, and/or weapon apply with regard to operations particular to one or both classes." (Emhpasis added.) Which would mean that if a wizard can't cast...

    Elven Thinblade

Weapon Familiarity It doesn't make any sense that only Dwarves, Gnomes and Orcs have weapon familiarity. What's the point of an "elven" thinblade if elves can't use it without a special feat? How is it not just a "thinblade"? I'm of the opinion that elves, halflings and humans aren't listed...

Making Goblins a threat for a 3rd level party.

Well, if you can aid another on any other skill or ability check, why not with the strength check for trip / disarm? The rules as stated in the SRD do not explicitly state one way or the other... I suppose it would be a DM decision, unless it states somewhere that I'm wrong.

    Magical Beasts and DR/Magic

Rigt, familiars are magical beasts with higher int.

Making Goblins a threat for a 3rd level party.

Mean goblins Ah, yes, tactics.... Crenelated walls on high ground grant a +4 cover bonus to AC, and a +1 bonus for high ground. Rough terrain prevents melee characters from rushing in on the horde. Reach weapons grant attacks of opprotunity on charging characters, and allow more than eight...

    Magical Beasts and DR/Magic

Right, "magical beast" is simply a way to describe animals that have supernatural or spell like abilities (celestial animals), are more intelligent than your run of the mill animal (wizards familiars), or have a bizzare appearence or mannarisms (sphynxes and gryffons). No creature, by virtue...

    Detect Evil

Can detect evil detect curse? The answer is no. Detect evil picks up four things, strictly speaking: 1. Evil Creature's (creatures with an evil alignment.) 2. Undead (though not good undead, such as Ghostwalk Ghosts or Deathless creatures) 3. Clerics with an Evil Aura (meaning any cleric that...
