In a strange bit of synchronicity, I just ran this game for the first time last weekend. We had a great time with it.
I'm curious as to why this relatively old game has suddenly re-entered our collective consciousness.
I'm a little disappointed that they're doing Pharaoh without doing the other two adventures in the Desert of Desolation series. And man, if you're going to do Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth, why not go ahead and do Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun? Yeah, I know, space is limited. I guess they wanted to...
A few random thoughts:
+ Evil Genius Games had a strong presence at Origins. I hadn't planned to get any of their stuff, but couldn't pass up the adaptations of Escape From New York, Kong: Skull Island, and Pacific Rim.
+ They definitely had some marketing $$$ behind them. I got a free ball...
If my notes are correct, there were seven things they announced at Pax Unplugged. Immediately afterward, they said the dates given were wrong, but they'd all still come out in 2024. But it's hard to imagine them releasing seven books in, say, the Sept - Dec timeframe. Unless maybe the Vecna book...
I would be more sympathetic to his point if we had seen a trend of RPG crowdfunding efforts getting smaller and smaller returns. We continue to see the opposite. We also know that lots of people support Kickstarters and never actually play the RPG (says the guy with a shelf full of beautiful...
When D&D celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1999, they released a nice boxed set featuring reprints of several classic modules, the Holmes rulebook, and a brief history of TSR booklet.
I've been thinking about what I'd love to see Wizards release in 2024 for D&D's 50th anniversary, and it's a...
I really wish people would share ideas for Halloween-themed D&D stuff earlier, like end of September or very early October. As it is, there's no way I'm going to be able to use these ideas this year.
I was just thinking it would be great to know if the WotC folks said "Infinite Stair" or "Endless Stair," because they are distinct things in the history of D&D.
CM8: The Endless Stair was a high-level BECMI adventure by Ed Greenwood.
Now, I admit that "Infinite Stair" seems more likely. But...
Call of Cthulhu, huh? Interesting idea, but it seems very unlikely that people who like role-playing games would be interested in anything based on the works of H. P. Lovecraft.
;)
The earlier version of the Lost Omens: Character Guide was not a softcover. The new version is the "special edition" cover format, but both versions are hardcover.
Yeah. My only complaint about the official statements yesterday was that they repeated the same thing Paizo did when they did the PF2E playtest, pretending that the release date for the new books could change depending on how the playtest goes. (The PF2E playtest was rocky, and the release date...
