If your are going archer any race with a +1 or 2 Dex is a great choice, the secondary stat depends on your class, if ranger you want wis, if bard you want cha if rogue depends, Fighters can make excellent archers too and they get +2 to ranged attacks and lots of them.

Every caster class deals with this and can get through just as well as the melee can, You have enough melee to keep you safe and you just need to watch your positioning.

The first part there is why it's getting +1 Dex, The second part is actually a good idea.

With that logic why don't i use tavern brawler as my template. it gives +1 str, a weapon prof,monk unarm damage, and a grapple bonus. when looked at against this feat it's not powerful in my opinion. Not all feats are created equal.
