Exactly. I really felt it was necessary to cut down on the grind of combat, especially encounter 'end game' (ie: 3-4 rounds in). Plus, I run a lot of Dark Sun Creature Catalog and MM 3 beasties. Some of them, even at level 5-7 do a lot more damage per round than equal leveled PCs. For example...

I agree with everything everyone has posted in this thread. And that's the problem...'Next'; by trying to do everything well, does nothing well. Or distinctively. My beef is calling it 'Next'. I hate that. Call it 5e, WotC.

The only changes I've made to 4e so far: I 'fixed' the psion. They get more damage dice for their at-wills as they hit higher tiers like everyone else gets now. I added a +1w or damage die for paragon, and a +2w or damage dice for epic. Sorry, but I felt doing 1w+ ability mod at paragon...

A form of gamer sexism my wife has noticed, and mentioned, is the "Oh, how cute, a girl is playing. Let me help you." stuff. She knows the rules, guys. Back off. In fact, playing 4e, she's got her actions picked before it's even her turn. None of that "Umm...hmmm...what should I do?" stuff...

Probably not. Based on what I've seen in the playtest packets, I don't think I want to purchase AD&D 2.5. I would like to see physical books, however. I'm sure that the illustration, design, and layout will be amazing. That's one thing WotC does really well. If they release all the 'module'...

Anyone know when more rule books are coming out for 13th age? It's my understanding that only the core rule book is available atm.... I know that a monster book, and a book with more classes/options is in the works, but I haven't seen a release date.

D&D's new name As long as the name isn't this, or anything resembling this, I'm cool. I'd name it 'Dungeons and Dragons: Fifth Edition' out of respect for words.
