    Kickstarter Storyscape Kickstarter is live!

Hi, folks! I'm pleased to announce the Kickstarter campaign for Storyscape, a digital roleplaying system with game mechanics designed by the famous Robin D. Laws. Storyscape is a significant step forward in the technology of roleplaying. It's a tabletop roleplaying game, you see, except that...

Original Star Wars actors to take center stage in new movie

Say what you will, but I'm cautiously optimistic about Episode VII. I'm not going to say it's going to recapture all the magic of the original trilogy, but at this point, I'd be perfectly happy if it just got the taste of the prequels out of my mouth.

    People are getting older!

"You're older than you've ever been And now you're even older And now you're even older And now you're even older You're older than you've ever been And now you're even older And now you're older still." -- They Might Be Giants

What economic class do you fall into?

Interesting how there are still zero "Wealthy" answers on the poll. I suspect it's because everyone can think of someone with more, so nobody really considers themselves truly wealthy until they're listed in the "Top 100 Richest People in the World" or something.

Tales from the Edge of the Empire

Thank you! I'm going to stop reading this right away and point my EotE GM at it instead. I don't want any spoilers. :)

    The Humpty Dumpty Conundrum

I've started using Evernote to keep all my gaming notes. You can put text or pictures or whatever you like into it, and it automatically syncs up with any other systems you install Evernote onto. So I can manipulate images and write plots on my desktop, and then use my tablet when game time...

    Quantifiable, non-XP, role-playing rewards

Prime Time Adventures used a neat little mechanic called Fan Mail. They could be turned in to get an additional card during resolution (PTA used cards instead of dice), but one cool aspect was how you got them. There was a small pile of Fan Mail tokens (we used poker chips) in a bowl in the...

    Gamers in politics

I'm a city councilor in Cottage Grove, Oregon... but I'm not a famous game designer yet. (We'll see how the Kickstarter finishes up first.) :)

    Celebrity Impressions for NPCs

I find that my best celebrity impressions are those that I'm no good at. For example, I can't do a Val-Kilmer-as-Doc-Holliday impression to save my life, but that's a good thing! Let's say I've got an NPC that's going to recur. I can just write down "Voice - Doc Holliday" in my notes...

[Cottage Grove, OR] Welcome to our little town!

    Gen Con suites?

Hi, folks! I'll be attending Gen Con this year with some other folks, and we'd love to get a suite of connected rooms, but I don't know enough about the hotels in the area to know where to start looking. The perfect place would be downtown, with two bedrooms and a sort of seating room in...
