Hit points & long rests: please consider?

Yep I'm probably unlikely to agree on things w/either of you and that's all right. :) As far as PCs killed, the Dark Sun game I was in saw a few characters die over the course of a year and we probably had someone below zero nearly every adventure. Some weeks it would be at least once per...

Hit points & long rests: please consider?

Heh, I'm glad my failure of the quest became an idea you would like to run with. Feel free to, just drop me a line and let me know how it goes heh. What did I say that makes any of it a given? Have you seen how poorly I roll?! :) There are still plenty of things that can go wrong and keep...

    D&D 4E 4e players, why do you want 5e?

I love 4E. I don't want a new edition coming along and destroying what we have w/DDI b/c that is a great way to be able to encapsulate everything about the edition. They aren't exactly taking my thoughts on not moving to a new edition tho, so I'm interested in it b/c it will be the next...

    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

Ok so at 9th level, casting Magic Missile, the Wizard can reliably do 8-20 points of damage a round. Even in older editions of the game, that is pretty poor. He can kill 4 kobolds in a single turn at 9th. Or he can drop a fireball and kill 20 of them. Let me think what would be best. The...

Paladin suggestions. Do you like this?

You know as horrible as Palladium is for so many things, their alignment system always made sense to me. Every alignment had a good set of generalities (always will, sometimes will, never will, etc) for different things, plus a number of examples of characters who fit that general description...

Hit points & long rests: please consider?

Note, I read thru the first page of 6 (possibly more since I pulled this page up earlier tonite) and I'm just commenting around the general posts we're seeing. Since when do we play a game of casting spells and killing dragons to be realistic? :) Your fighter took an arrow in the knee, so now...

Paladin suggestions. Do you like this?

No way is Batman lawful neutral. He breaks tons of laws all the time. I could see him more as Neutral Good. He wants things to be better for people, but if he needs to go outside the law to do it he does. Heck, being a vigilante is already outside the law as is.

Review of Diablo 3 by Blizzard Entertainment

You do realize that all the quest people in Diablo 2 were voice acted as well right? You can still skip your way thru the dialogue as fast as you want. Diablo has always had bad voice acting. It's sort of the hallmark of so many video games out there. It's still better than Dracula in...

Review of Diablo 3 by Blizzard Entertainment

Funny it feels exactly like Diablo to my wife and I and we've both been playing since the original Diablo. The Barbarian in this game is the same Barbarian from D2. One of my friends has taken one a bit farther than I have and has talked to people (some of the non-quest related chatting you...

Review of Diablo 3 by Blizzard Entertainment

You do realize that the original Diablo came out in 1996 and you can still play that game for free on Battle.net, 16 years later right? I don't see Blizzard shutting down servers anytime soon. Isn't it EA that has a tendency to kill off older versions of games that have an online component...

    Should point buy be discouraged?

Well that's great for figuring out things on the 3-18 scale, but the game progresses much higher than that. If starting max is 20 and all boosts are put into Int, you can end up with a 29 by L30. Add whatever bump you gain from your epic tier bonus, and we're talking a range of up to 31. If...

D&D 5E [5EGL] Open Licensed Settings: Dragonstar, Ptolus, Scarred Lands, etc?

They can post the basic rules on the web for playtesting, but if the rules don't have something that says you can freely distribute and create new games based on these, then they aren't doing anything close to the OGL.

"Gamism," The Forge, and the Elephant in the Room

No worries. Just the way that particular statement was phrased made it sound like any competitive gaming was bad. I remember the Paranoia, but I hadn't been paying attention to who had said it, b/c I didn't have anything to comment about in that specific post :) Definitely agree about the...
