I agree - everything runs more quickly with 4E once you get the hang of it. My party enjoys it a lot, and as a DM, I look forward to creating the sessions whereas before, with 3.5, I often found the work a bit tedious.

I believe that the DMG suggest to let new players or players with new character enter at the same level as the rest of the party. I'd do that - I feel that lagging a hard-earned level behind just doesn't contribute to the fun of the game. I don't punish my players for being daring. Or stupid...
