After a lengthy pandemic-inspired break, we're continuing on this weekend so of course I've got more comments. At this rate, it will only be another 5 years before we finish!
Area #21 "The Star Chamber" is at the bottom of the blood waterfall where they face Moreto the true ghoul.
You...
...one more!
9) #15 has an iron panel that slides out of the wall and blocks the tunnel. But when does it retract? The trap says "repair reset" which (I looked it up) means that someone comes to repair it. Who the heck is repairing the traps in this place? How long does it take them?
Played another session last month (and playing again tomorrow). Some notes/questions from that session and next, all from "A Gathering of Winds" conversion:
1) #13 mentions Earth Glide, but doesn't provide a reference (MM 304 "Xorn" has it)
2) #14 you don't have Allustan's stats, which makes...
3) (Room 5) "Creatures take 1d6 fire damage per minute."
That seems really slow for walking on hot coals? I sped it up to 1d6 damage per turn and that presented a lot more challenge.
I was so excited when the players realized it was the Earl of "COALchester". Such glee!
It says that Antyress...
We're a few sessions into "A Gathering of Winds" and as usual, I've got questions/comments:
1) (Room 1) "For creatures not in contact with the portal with some portion of their body:
the ghoul has advantage an attack rolls
attack rolls against it have disadvantage
it can use its sneak...
The city is/was full of dopplegangers. Have a greater doppleganger from a rival gang offer to step in for 30% of the prize money (or more!). Or have their manager go find one.
The manager is going to search for a replacement pretty hard. Have them find a paladin (or matching class) that is...
The Champion's Belt was finally fought!
...and as always, I have thoughts/comments/errors to point out. :)
a) Ulgurstasta is mis-spelled in the 5e conversion document as "ulgurstata"
b) the "to hit" for the ulgurstasta should be +15, not +10, given the 30 STR
c) An ulgurstasta has an 18 INT...
Our bard used silver pieces.
At the beginning, when the barbarians are taunting and insulting them, he walked over and tossed the coins as the barbarians feet and said, "this is so you can buy yourself better insults" and then walked away. I was really impressed with his dramatic role playing...
After all that worry, they remembered to try Dispel Magic.
They only had one spell slot left, and if they did a long rest, the player in the box would die from the d4/hour ability score drain. I decided to go with 1/hr to give them a chance. They had bardic inspiration to enhance the Dispel...
Interesting idea to use exhaustion for CON damage. I took his CON down by two and he suffered the HP loss, and I figured it would recover one point per day (or all of it). But exhaustion might be better.
Permanent Bestow Curse makes sense to me, I like it!
DC19 for the Dispel is still...
We're playing tonight and I'm not sure how to handle the monk being trapped inside the chest in Bozal Zahol's room (29). It wasn't included in the conversion.
DC 20 Will save (DC 15 CON) or 2 points of CON damage. He saved the first time he touched it (picked the lock!) and lost 2 CON...
Wow. That did not go as expected!
I decided that Bozal just needed his reaction to free the ulgurstata, and they managed to take him down without him ever getting even that. The monk just kept stunning him and they killed him with their very last action before he cast mass heal and got back...
