    Game first story second. Story, of course, is important, but D&D at its base is a game. And, it's better for it.

    Both systems have their strengths and weaknesses. I prefer rolling (fairly) as it , as suggested, random, while point buy is way more limit. But, in the end, the stats don't matter as much as the DM does.

    It must have sold well enough since D&D has been around for 4 decades or so. Specific numbers at this point for past editions aren't too important as long as they keep track now .
