Things that aren't plants or really monsters, I guess. A CR 0 mushroom that screams and does nothing else is basically neither a plant, nor a monster in any real sense. So I want to know what makes them so popular.

well Fungi arent really plants either so really the Shriker is just a whole lot of noise, should it be reclassified as a hazard to sit next to green slime?

This happens when people are upvoting and downvoting the same two options. It normally happens in the later stages of the surveys, when there are only a few favorites left on the list. But this one started early, with the same handful of people trading same 2 points back and forth between the Assassin Vine, the Shambling Mound, and the Treant since like Page 3. If each of them could hold off on downvoting the other two for a bit, this contest would be over in a week.

When you think "D&D Plant Monster," why does your mind go to that, over a treant, or wood woad, or shambling mound? That's what I'm curious about.
Well, I'm not the best person to ask as I have voted for the treant or shambling mound every time. However, the shrieker would probably be a 3rd choice for me. Reason: I grew up with the 1e Monster Manual and the monsters included pretty much always resonate with me more.

As soon as there's one day where when I go to vote the Assassin vine is below 20, I'll stop downvoting it and start on the Violet Fungus (hey, where are all the fungus haters now?)

Aargh. Lol.
You're just seeing if I will go on a rant about this, aren't you? 🤪
