When we made ourselves as D&D characters way back in high school I was a gnome, because I was short, creative, and intellectual.

I'm not as short but the others are still true, so gnome it will remain!
 

Although I have sympathies for dwarves and halflings, I think, I'd see myself as a human wizard. A mostly lazy human wizard, spending most time indoors reading books and reminiscing about the times when he still went adventuring. Also, delegating most of the work to his assistant that is ;). More or less like Benelaius from Murder in Cormyr.
