    Hybrid Characters: 272 Combinations?

By my reckoning there are 17 choose 2, or 136 different combinations of hybrid characters available. Yet WotC states there are 272, according to the design & development article... Seems odd to me that WotCs number is exactly twice mine... can someone good at stats explain where I'm going wrong?

    Overpowered race?

I wonder what people would say if a 3pp released a race with the following abilities: +2 to any ability score +5 to any skill +1 to every non-AC defence choose either: +1 to hit, increase to +2 at 15th lvl, +3 at 25th lvl; or to increase non-AC defence bonus to +2 at 11th lvl, +3 at 21st lvl...

    Some questions from actual play

So, it appears there are some irritatingly unclear bits in the PHB. Can anyone (preferably someone official) shed some light on the following: A fighters Cleave and Reaping Strike powers both reference [W]+Str as base damage for a hit, plus Str damage to an adjacent foe (for Cleave) and Str...

    Paladins and alignment

So, given the assertion by playtesters that in 4e alignment doesn't have any mechanical impact on the game (i.e.: it's a RP tool only), and the quote from a WotC staffer that there are rules for "evil paladins" (i.e.: not blackguards) in the DMG, it seems a logical conclusion that the 4e paladin...

Rogue powers, sneak attack and weapon selection

Looking at the Ampersand rogue class preview, it looks as though sneak attack and rogue powers are only usable with light blades, slings and crossbows. However the KotS pre-gen rogue powers only say melee/ranged weapon. Do we have any info about which is correct? I really hope we haven't seen...

Who is interested in the Digital Initiative?

So, my questions for WotC about the demise of Dungeon & Dragon magazines got me wondering: What proportion of the online community did WotC expect to buy into their digital initiative? Which in turn, made me post this poll - so are you interested?

    Units of game-design complexity?

In Dave Noonan's article about designing the GenCon D&D delve (being discussed here), he mentioned that "we need a unit of measurement for game-design complexity". Anyone got any suggestions? I'm thinking bugbears (abbreviation "bg") would be good one... ;)

    Balancing the Warblade

First things first: I don't want to start a discussion here about whether or not the Warblade class (from Tome of Battle: Book of Nine Swords) is balanced - there are plenty of threads discussing that in both the Rules and the General Discussion forum. If you feel the Warblade already is...

New Excerpts - Tome of Battle & Dragons of Faerun

It surprises me that no-one else has posted about this yet (maybe everyone's busy reading them), but: Tome of Battle: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20060802a Dragons of Faerun: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20060802b Some good stuff in there... two books I wasn't...
