Help me price a magic item! Sword that ignores all DR ...

Homebrew, or so I thought -- really, only worth a +2 enhancement to ignore all DR? That seems crazy cheap. Thanks.

Help me price a magic item! Sword that ignores all DR ...

A little help pricing a magic item, please! This one's a simple one -- magical sword, +2 to hit and damage, and all extraordinary/magical/supernatural/what-have-you DR is ignored, up to and including Epic-level DR. The only DR that wouldn't be ignored is standard "Hardness" DR that objects tend...

[3.5] Please help me price a magic item ... Sword of Nullity, let's call it.

Not native to the 7th Sea realm either -- there's no way to replace it, but that doesn't necessarily make it priceless, as it's only as valuable as what someone is willing to pay/trade for it.

[3.5] Please help me price a magic item ... Sword of Nullity, let's call it.

Thanks for the estimate! In this particular world, the effect is not from a magical creation but the metal is simply from a place not of this particular multiverse.

[3.5] Please help me price a magic item ... Sword of Nullity, let's call it.

I'm trying to get an idea of how highly this would be valued in ole 3.5 (or Pathfinder) D&D-land ... ------------- Sword of Nullity This Masterwork sword is non-magical, and gives no bonuses to hit or damage. However, it completely ignores all protective spells on its target of 5th level or...

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

I think this is almost, but not quite correct. The problem isn't so much that the characters use most of their interesting powers early (as pointed out, at higher levels they have a lot of them), but that the monsters usually use them early. A big bad blows the uber-encounter power early on...

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

You really don't get it, do you? This isn't a conversation about DM tactics. But for what it's worth, the Vine Horrors WERE firing over the Wall of Fire; at -5 to hit, and being 7th level creatures, they weren't hitting more than 15% or so of the time.

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

I figured 40% given what the typical 16th level character has -- something like +4 magic armor, say +9 from armor (or, for a Dex character like +3 for armor and +6 for Dex), and +8 from level. With no shield and no other feats that help AC, that's AC 31, Earth Titans would hit 50% of the time...

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

*sigh* . . . nobody listens to me. I know that with good tactics, these monsters can have a big, nasty effect. I'm not talking about 4E monsters being lame, I'm talking about situations in which the Big Bads have used up their encounter powers and are relegated to their at-wills, 2-3 rounds into...

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

Interesting you should say that -- that's exactly what a friend of mine suggested -- halving the hit points of both the party and the monsters (roughly). The battle I outlined had a bunch of annoying terrain, as well as three different monster roles . . . re the titans, if it were TWO elite...

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

Frankly, I'd prefer to talk in hypotheticals, as I think it's relatively safe given the consistent fact of monsters with lots o' hit points and low damage-dealing. I think the situation is roughly analogous to the following: Let's say that we have a dice-roll-off -- I roll a d6 and you roll...

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

I think I need to emphasize that I'm NOT saying there can't be interesting combats or dangerous level-appropriate combats with any and all of these monsters. I'm saying that if it so happened that the combat got down to, say, just the Earth Titan and one of his buddies against a...

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

Don't you think it's weird to have battles that are "all over but the cleanup" when 3/4 of the monsters are still alive and have the majority of their hit points, and it would take 7-10 rounds to actually do the cleanup? And most monsters don't have those special effects. Just opened to a...

What the heck does Hidden mean!!

Oh, lord, this again. Not going to rehash things, but my vote is with the allies-can-provide-cover rules. IF the bad guy were making a ranged attack against the rogue, the rogue would have cover -- how you can interpret this as the rogue doesn't have sufficient cover to use stealth for a ranged...

"Looks like we're going to win this battle . . . in about 90 minutes from now."

I have not played a lot of 4E, but the bit I've played so far suggests a problem -- from my point of view, at least. The problem is that in some battles, after the first 2-3 rounds, it may become very clear to the DM and players that they are almost certainly going to win the battle, even if...

How often do you see Opportunity Attacks?

In the limited number of battles I've run so far, opportunity attacks have been *very* rare, perhaps limited to one or two per encounter for each side -- at most -- and it's usually the monsters drawing them, not the characters. The reason I ask this question is that the rarity of OAs makes...

Extensive HR Document: Mostly new feats, plus several system-mods.

First comment is that this is ridiculous: Earning Action Points Replace the fist bullet-point with the following: You start a session with action points equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1) Charisma is a very powerful attribute in 4E, there is absolutely no need to make it broken. Do...

    Goblin, Kobold, Orc Racial Feats

I'll shove a sharp stick into my eye before I'll work on a feat for spiked-chain wielding goths. Thanks -- I may be stealing away a couple of yours as well. I have to say that I think more than a few of your feats are overpowered, I may tweak after stealing them. (For instance, +2 to all...
