I've been wanting to run a game with the players fighting the battle of Helmsdeep, but I'm not very good at making large maps. I was kind of hoping somebody would have made one (based off the jackson portrayal or otherwise), but I haven't been able to find a map that's got the same immense...

I'd say it's slightly better than the Dracanite helm from Ghostwalk (12k for +2 deflection and protection from any form of possession). That'd make it around 18-24k or so, depending upon how common summoned monsters and neutral enemies are.

Nope. Augmented X counts for two things: Jack and squat. There might be an obscure anti-shapechanger PrC that deals with the augmented subtype, but besides that, nothing.

I've heard of people taking the Heretic of the Faith feat or the Gray Guard prestige class to avoid the downsides of Vow of Poverty - does this actually work?

If a BBEG comes by and says "hey, Imagonna torch this orphanage and kill the kids, kay?" and the PCs are all "hell no you aint gonna kill the kids", and the rest of the party occupies the BBEG while the sorcerer teleports the kids to safety, I'd count that as a victory even if the BBEG escapes...

You could also add the prices of torch bug paste from Complete Scoundral and eggshell grenades from Oriental Adventures, then multiply it by 1.5.

Monkey grip really doesn't do enough. Your sword is slightly bigger than normal. So what? Instead, consider a major titan bloodline and a warhammer with the morphing weapon enhancement. At level 12 you can wield a gargantuan whatevertheheckyouwant with no penalties.

Undead subtype? You mean undead type, right? I'd suggest combining the necropolitan template with dragonborn (talk to your DM about tweaking dragonborn into "graveborn" and making the breath weapon deal piercing damage).

If you want to get something close to swarm-shifter, figure out how to be small for a while (I recommend screwing with a rod of wonder). Technically speaking, swarms of rats and bats are allowable candidate creatures for the lycanthrope template, provided you're small or tiny respectively...
