So I just read The Stand by Stephen King

Having neglected Stephen King for several years because I didn't appreciate him as a kid, I finally read The Stand, and I enjoyed it very much. Can you guys here recommend other works by King? He is quite a productive author so pointers to his best works would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

    [March] What are you reading?

Is it good? I'm currently reading The Emperor by Ryszard Kapuscinski. Impulse buy but interesting so far. To quote wikipedia:

[January ] What are you reading?

I just started reading Time Enough for Love by Robert A. Heinlein. This is my second Heinlein, having previously read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. I hope it's as good. Before I just finished Dune. Defenitely worth the read.

Are the Dune sequels worth reading?

So over christmas I finally got the time to read Dune. It's, of course, an epic masterpiece, and I fully enjoyed reading every single page of it. I wonder if you think the sequels in the original Frank Herbert series are worth reading? The second book is, apperantly, "Dune Messiah". Cheers,

    Blinking LEDs

If you run some Unix flavor or an old version of Windows (98 or something) it's very easy to program the parallel port. Then you just need some LED's, some resistors, and some wire. Googling "parallel port led" will give plenty of material on the subject. This might be a bit unwieldy though.

What do you know about notebook computers?

I've heard great things about Samsung NC20 (I think that's the name). It's in that gray area between "netbook" and "notebook". Should be perfect for internet, watching movies etc.

    Notebook CPU question

Hi, Notebook CPU:s are almost always slower than desktop CPU:s, moreso for the lower watt models. Does the minimum requirements specify a CPU type? If it says "1.6 GHz Core 2 or similar" then the CPU is probably too slow for bearable gameplay. If it says "1.6 GHz Pentium 4", then it might work...

    Easy-Go Classes for Beginners?

I don't want to hijack the thread, but since the question is somewhat related I feel I can ask it here. What are the most difficult classes to play in 4e? The class (or race/class combo) you would absolutely not recommend to new players.

Rate Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

How's the editing of this movie compared to Phoenix? I liked the first four Harry Potter movies, but the fifth one was borderline unwatchable because of the poor editing, especially how the scenes were cut. Thinking about it, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is actually the only movie...

    Planescape: Torment

Nice one! I still consider Planescape: Torment one of the best games ever made. Ten years later I still can't decide how to rank the game relative to Baldur's Gate 2 and Fallout 2. I've been out of touch with Dungeons & Dragons for a while. Does Planescape still exist as a campaign setting...

    10 years of ENW

Cheers :) This forum means a lot to me. Thinking back I was quite obnoxious at times but it always worked out, and I’m grateful I’m still a part of the community. Feeling really nostalgic reading the archives; Bugaboo, Caliban, Ruin Explorer, Chris Nightwing, Cyberzombie, Forgotten Hater...

    10 years of ENW

With a little luck the very first message board might still be at archive.org. For example, searching for the third(?) incarnation of the forums, when the forum url was dynamic.gamespy.com/~dnd3e, yields nothing interesting in the index: Internet Archive Wayback Machine According to the index...

    Frost/Nixon

Frost/Nixon is awesome; the acting, the story, even the soundtrack/original score. A much more interesting movie in my opinion than Milk, which won best actor at the oscars (let's face it: Sean Penn is a really good actor, but he always does these difficult emotional movies, and we've seen this...

    Heroes #25:An Invisible Thread/Season 3/2009

The first season of Heroes was completely awesome in my opinion. Best show ever. The second season was not so good, but enjoyable. So I was really pleased with the first few episodes of the third season. Really good. Unfortunately, somewhere in the third season things got much worse, and the...

    Heroes #22:Turn And Face The Strange/Season 3/2009

The more I see of volume 4 the more I like Angela. She’s the only hero this season that actually radiates an aura of power. The other heroes (as well as Sylar) I can actually see getting killed somehow, but not Angela. Actually, any of you remember that Simpson episode with the pretzels? It...
