The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

Can't say I'm surprised. Always figured WotC/Hasbro would try and challenge it at some point. I always thought they'd try when 4e came along. As a system, it certainly did its best to repudiate as much of the SRD as possible imo and the fact they didn't try to invalidate it at that time...

[Reading, Berks, UK] Players Wanted D&D

Hi, a lot has changed since I posted this! I currently run two fortnightly games (both on a Tuesday). My 5e game potentially has a spot open, if you're still interested?

[Spoilers] Sweaty's Curse of the Crimson Throne Minis & Campaign Thread

Giggles was the third member of Lamm's gang at the Old Fishery - a lunatic half-orc who pretty much found everything amusing, especially when a couple of the PCs decided to forego the wooden platform and stairs and just threw themselves off it instead. Both failed their checks to avoid damage...

[Spoilers] Sweaty's Curse of the Crimson Throne Minis & Campaign Thread

One of Lamm's sidekicks was a vicious gnome called Hookshanks who liked to dress up as a child and bully the human children, as well as attack unsuspecting PCs of course... http://www.keithrobinson.me/reaper-cadwalon/

[Spoilers] Sweaty's Curse of the Crimson Throne Minis & Campaign Thread

I used this Reaper mini for Yargin, one of Lamm's thugs in the Old Fishery. I modified it slightly so that they encountered him with Lamm in the underbelly of the Old Fishery, along with Gobblegut. He managed to get off a couple of blasts from his wand, just to humiliate the party wizard...

[Spoilers] Sweaty's Curse of the Crimson Throne Minis & Campaign Thread

Some initial thoughts on getting Curse of the Crimson Throne started. The campaign starts with the PCs going after a local hoodlam, Gadren Lamm. While they do so, the city erupts into violence with the death of the King. This opening scenario creates something of a problem for the DM, as the...

[Spoilers] Sweaty's Curse of the Crimson Throne Minis & Campaign Thread

Spoiler Alert: I'm going to talk about Curse of the Crimson Throne, show some minis I've painted, etc. In doing so I will reveal the plot and the characters of the whole adventure path, so be warned. If you're ever planning on playing in this game, just go do something else instead :) After...

We Be Goblins Free! Is ... Well, Free

We Be Goblins was a lot of fun to run. I changed the plot slightly and added a large amount of extra stuff to the journey through the swamp, enough to have the party level up, so also beefed up the final encounter too. It is humorous, but only because Paizo goblins are so characterful!

Is it legal to Combine Feats?

As already pointed out, unnamed bonuses stack - it's only named bonuses that don't (except for Dodge, of course, which is an exception to the rule). As has also already been pointed out - you really should run it as you want to. It's your game after all and as long as you're up front with the...

Is it legal to Combine Feats?

Personally, I look at it a different way: not, where does it say I'm allowed, but instead, where does it say I'm not? Every feat has a set of rules stating the conditions required for use and no where (that I know of) does it say as a general rule that two feats don't apply at the same time...

[Reading, Berks, UK] Players Wanted D&D

I'm thinking of starting up a new D&D group and was looking to see if there were people in Reading or the Berkshire area (UK) looking to play. I'll be running a 3.5 game, probably on Wednesday evenings - though that's open to negotiation. The important thing is just having a fun time. I ran a...

D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 DMG out, so the full core rules are now available

It'll be interesting to see. I'm thinking not any time soon, since (a) 4ed is the last edition, so there's still a lot of it floating around, and (b) the PDFs were all for their Collector's Series, which they recently released as hard copies, whereas AFAIK that series didn't include the 4ed...

15 Best D&D Modules Of All Time

It is interesting that so many of the adventures are from AD&D or around that period. Perhaps that tells us something about the ageing demographic of modern role players, or simply that the majority of what has come since then has simply not been as good? On a personal level, I'd find more...

Some notes on Spam Control & New Users

Shame, but I guess that's the spammers for you. They don't care what they spoil. Good luck with it all the same, Morrus!

Some notes on Spam Control & New Users

Is there not some vBulletin add on that would help reduce spam accounts? I would have thought that vBulletin would have done their own, or some third party add on. It's not like spam is unique to EN World, so there must be something out there?

    EN World banner

Thanks, Mark - I just grabbed the head of EN World and munged it in Photoshop, so nothing amazing. And of course anyone can use it - assuming Morrus is happy, as I don't think it's really mine to say!

    EN World banner

No worries, Morrus. I've always been happy to send traffic to EN World - God knows, this site sends enough traffic to sites like mine! Anyway, I grabbed your logo and put one together. Nothing spectacular, but it will do: If you do add some to site, be sure to let me know and I'll update mine.

    EN World banner

I'm just putting the finishing touches to my new website and was putting together a page of links. I want to put up a link to EN World. Do you have a banner I can use? I know you used to, but can't seem to find anything. No worries if you don't - I can just put something together myself.

What's the state of the RPG industry and where is it going?

I'm not sure I'd agree that there's a 'resurgence'. The most recent boom of the OGL period is long gone and, as far as I can see, the industry is no where near that level. There does currently seem to be something of a divide between the internet and flgs. Sales in games shops seem to be...

    2012---In Remembrance.

Very sad, but 82 is a good age and his route through life was truly historic - a giant leap, if you don't mind me saying so!
